Today, (Friday 23 May), at a ceremony held in the Italian Embassy, central London, a talented group of student sons and daughters of Fiat Group UK employees all received substantial Bursary awards in recognition of their academic achievements.
All of the winners – representing a cross-section of companies comprising Fiat Chrysler Automobiles UK, Maserati GB Ltd and FGA Capital in Slough – received substantial awards from the company to put towards their academic pursuits as part of a grants and scholarship programme through which students who have performed outstandingly may obtain a financial contribution towards their studies.
Judging their efforts were a three-strong panel of experts comprising Pauline Thomas, a former head teacher and MA in Educational Management; Martin McLaughlin, the Agnelli-Serena Professor of Italian Studies at Oxford; and Paul Thompson, Rector of the Royal College of Art; assisted by Fabrizio Cau, Human Resources Director at CNH Industrial in the UK, and Richard Gadeselli, Chairman of Fiat UK.
The UK Bursary Committee administers the awards on behalf of Fiat S.p.A. and CNH Industrial. Since 1996, children of employees have been able to sign up to the programme which is active in UK, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, Belgium, USA, Brazil, Canada, China, Mexico, India, Argentina, Australia and Portugal.
Some 52 UK entries were received this year, of which 12 Bursaries were awarded.
