As electric vans continue to take over Britain’s streets, Farizon has found a way to tug at the heartstrings of tradespeople who still fondly recall the “good old days” of diesel-powered workhorses. The all-electric SV large van now offers an optional ‘Nostalgia Mode’, designed to bring back the sights, sounds, and smells of traditional combustion engines, without a drop of fuel burned.
Activated via a simple app, ‘Nostalgia Mode’ unleashes the specially crafted scent of ‘Eau de Diesel’ through the cabin vents, instantly conjuring memories of early morning deliveries and long, clattering journeys. But the sensory journey doesn’t stop at smell. The van’s throttle response is intentionally dulled, giving drivers the familiar sensation of the slower, more measured acceleration of diesel engines, while haptic seat-shakers replicate the bone-rattling vibrations once felt through the chassis.
For those who miss the characteristic growl of an old diesel, the feature pipes engine clatter through the audio system, dynamically matching the pitch to acceleration. The result is an experience so authentic that it recalls every jolting corner, every stop-start, and every groan of a well-worn workmate on four wheels.
Elektra van O'Dor, Lead Era-defining Vehicle Attributes Engineer at Farizon, explained, “The Farizon SV is a refined, zero-emission vehicle, but we’ve listened to our drivers. Alongside a love of Marathon bars, Blur CDs, and a well-thumbed A-Z, many expressed a longing for the smell and feel of their trusted old diesel vans. Nostalgia Mode brings a touch of the past into the present.”
Farizon’s ‘Nostalgia Mode’ is a cheeky nod to tradition, allowing drivers to enjoy the latest in electric vehicle technology while keeping the quirks of diesel life alive.
