The rapid adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles has sparked innovation across the automotive industry, with tyres playing a crucial role in enhancing performance and efficiency. Meeting the unique demands of these vehicles—low rolling resistance, superior traction, and the ability to handle heavier loads—requires cutting-edge engineering. Falken Tyre Europe has risen to the challenge with its groundbreaking e. ZIEX AO model, now a key component of Audi’s all-electric Q6 e-tron.
A Perfect Match for Audi Q6 e-tron
Since May 2023, Falken’s e. ZIEX tyres have been rolling off production lines in Audi’s Ingolstadt plant, equipping the highly anticipated Audi Q6 e-tron with premium 235/65R18 H XL and 255/60R18 H XL tyres. This collaboration underscores Falken’s commitment to supplying original equipment (OE) tyres that align with Audi’s reputation for quality, innovation, and sustainability.
Christian Stolting, OE Sales Director at Falken Tyre Europe, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership:
“We are very proud to contribute to the quality and innovation for which Audi is known worldwide with our tyres. We are very happy that our products fulfil the high aspirations of these vehicles in terms of innovative and safe solutions.”

Engineering Excellence: Advanced Technology for Optimal Performance
Unveiled in spring 2023, the e. ZIEX represents a pinnacle of energy-efficient tyre design. Developed by the Sumitomo Rubber Group, the tyre incorporates Advanced 4D Nano Design technology, delivering several performance advantages:
- Asymmetric Tread Design: Optimised edge sections prevent pressure peaks on tread block edges, ensuring uniform force distribution. This not only enhances grip on wet and dry surfaces but also prolongs tyre life.
- Enhanced Rolling Resistance: A contoured shoulder design reduces rolling resistance, directly increasing vehicle range—an essential feature for electric and hybrid vehicles.
These innovations were validated by AutoBild magazine in its 2024 summer tyre test, where the e. ZIEX achieved the lowest rolling resistance among eight competitors. The tyre also set benchmarks in energy efficiency, reducing fuel consumption measured in kWh per 100 kilometres.
Designed for the Future
Falken’s collaboration with Audi reflects a broader vision of sustainable mobility. The e. ZIEX tyres are tailored for OE applications, denoted by the additional “A” designation, symbolising their bespoke fit for Audi vehicles. Beyond the factory floor, Falken has made these tyres accessible to the wider market. Available in 29 sizes, ranging from 15 to 21 inches, they cater to speed classes H, V, and W (210–240 km/h), ensuring versatility for a range of vehicle models.
Pioneering the Path Ahead
The Falken e. ZIEX tyre is more than a product—it’s a statement of how tyre technology can complement the electrification of mobility. By delivering superior performance, energy efficiency, and durability, Falken has set a new standard for the tyre industry, demonstrating that sustainability and innovation can go hand in hand.
As electric and hybrid vehicles continue to dominate the roads, Falken’s e. ZIEX tyres will undoubtedly remain at the forefront, empowering drivers to embrace the future of automotive excellence.
