Limited to just 200 units, the INEOS Grenadier Detour sets a new standard for personalization and long-distance comfort in the 4×4 sector. This exclusive model allows customers to choose from a vast array of internal and external custom options, including a bespoke paint palette, a uniquely tailored exhaust system, and intricate detailing.
Each of the 200 Detour models will be meticulously hand-finished in the UK, utilizing high-quality materials sourced from esteemed UK-based suppliers. These include leathers from Bridge of Weir, cashmere from Johnstons of Elgin, and unique badging from renowned British jewellers, Vaughtons.
The Detour heralds the official launch of Arcane Works, INEOS Automotive’s bespoke service dedicated to creating highly customized and limited-edition versions of their award-winning 4x4s.
George Ratcliffe, Commercial Director of INEOS Automotive, explains, “We selected the name Arcane for our new division because the limited-edition vehicles it produces will be so unique that they will rarely be seen in the wild. By working in small batches and hand-finishing each car, we can provide a level of individuality unparalleled in the 4×4 market. For our first release, the Grenadier Detour, we felt the name was fitting as the Grenadier is designed for those who relish driving and sometimes, the longer route is the most rewarding.”

London, 11th July 2024 – EMBARGO 11th July, 11:00 AM BST – INEOS Automotive has unveiled the first limited edition vehicle from its newly created Arcane Works division: the INEOS Grenadier Detour. Only 200 of these hand-finished 4x4s will be produced, featuring bespoke design elements and collaborations with UK craftsmen, allowing customers to infuse their personal style into custom-made specifications.
Revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Detour retains all the refined dynamics and off-road capabilities of the Grenadier, while offering an extensive range of external and internal design options to enhance personalization and long-distance comfort. The vehicle continues to offer a choice of two straight-six, 3.0-litre BMW engines, renowned for their refined performance. Additionally, the Detour’s petrol models will feature an exclusively tailored exhaust system to enhance the vehicle’s sound character and emotional appeal.
Ratcliffe continues, “The Arcane name reflects the exclusivity of our limited-edition creations. By hand-finishing these vehicles in small batches, we deliver a level of individuality not found elsewhere in the 4×4 market. The Grenadier Detour is aptly named for those who appreciate the journey as much as the destination.”
Distinguishing features of the Detour include unique 18-inch forged alloy wheels, a specially designed front grille with headlight surrounds, and four exclusive paint finishes: Magma Red, Whiteout Blue, Squall Green, and Storm Force Silver. Each finish is hand-polished to perfection. For those seeking ultimate customization, the Arcane Works bespoke paint option uses a color matching system based on a sample provided by the customer or matched to an existing vehicle they own. The chosen color is then hand-sprayed and polished to a high sheen in the UK.
The exterior contrast pack offers new color options for the front and rear skid plates, roof rails, and rear ladder, while the exterior lighting is decolored to provide a sleek appearance.
Inside, the Detour offers a luxurious and customizable cabin environment. Customers can choose from two new satin finishes for the transmission tunnel, doors, and air vents, as well as a selection of tactile leathers and fabrics for key driver touchpoints. Options include four fine-grain Bridge of Weir leathers for the quilted seat upholstery and two cashmere choices from Johnstons of Elgin for the headlining. Each Detour model will feature a laser-etched aluminum door scuff plate displaying its limited-edition status. Understated Arcane Works badging, both exterior and interior, is crafted by British jewellers, Vaughtons.
Arcane Works’ limited-edition vehicles will showcase unique features and carry specifically tailored names. The division will also serve as a test bed for new technologies and systems for future INEOS vehicles, including upgraded engine modifications, new chassis systems, and innovative materials and features.
