The new BYD SEAL U DM-i, a spacious and comfortable five-seater D-segment SUV, marks the brand’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) in Europe. Featuring a premium interior and a high level of standard equipment, it offers excellent value within its class.

Ideal for longer journeys, the BYD SEAL U DM-i delivers a quiet, smooth ride reminiscent of a pure-electric vehicle, with powerful acceleration and performance to match.
Available in two trims at competitive prices, the BYD SEAL U DM-i Design (all-wheel drive) is priced at £39,905, while the BYD SEAL U DM-i Boost (front-wheel drive) is offered at £33,205. Both trims are available in four exterior paint colors: Delan Black, Time Grey, Snow White, and Tian Qing.
Super DM Technology for Superior Efficiency
BYD’s Super DM (Dual Mode) Technology prioritizes eco-friendly, efficient electric driving with ultra-low petrol consumption and an extended range. Unlike other PHEV systems, the BYD Super DM drivetrain emphasizes electric power with minimal fuel reliance, making it more environmentally friendly and adaptable to various driving conditions.
The system integrates a highly efficient Electric Hybrid System, a 1.5L Xiaoyun Hybrid Engine (offered in two variants depending on trim), and the ultra-safe, durable cobalt-free (LFP) BYD Blade Battery. This technology intelligently switches between EV and HEV modes to prioritize electric propulsion whenever possible, enhancing efficiency and environmental friendliness. The BYD SEAL U DM-i Design trim (AWD) features two high-power electric motors (150 kW front and 120 kW rear) and an efficient 18.3 kWh BYD Blade Battery, complemented by a 1.5L four-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 96 kW. Combined, the system delivers a maximum power of 238 kW and a total torque of 550 Nm.
The BYD SEAL DM-i Boost trim (FWD) is powered by a 1.5L hybrid engine producing 72 kW, working with a 145 kW high-power electric motor, and also uses the 18.3 kWh BYD Blade Battery. This configuration produces a total system power of 160 kW and a maximum torque of 300 Nm. The BYD SEAL DM-i Boost offers an electric driving range of 49.7 miles (WLTP combined) and a total range of 671 miles when fully charged and fueled.

It comes with a 6-year/93,750-mile full manufacturer’s warranty, an 8-year/125,000-mile battery warranty for at least 70% of its original capacity, and an 8-year/93,750-mile warranty on the electric motor.
