In celebration of Nelson Mandela International Day, ISUZU Motors South Africa (ISUZU) has made a significant impact through its corporate social responsibility programs. This year, ISUZU embraced Mandela’s legacy with a series of initiatives aimed at supporting education, community development, and conservation. The activities spanned across Gqeberha and Johannesburg, reflecting ISUZU’s dedication to Mandela’s values of justice, equality, and community service.

Supporting Education: A Focus on Gqeberha
ISUZU’s commitment to education was evident through its collaboration with Gift of the Givers to support EZ Kabane High School in kwa-Dwesi township, Gqeberha. Under the theme “It’s still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity,” ISUZU donated 100 single desks, 100 double desks, beanies, toiletries, and bulk school stationery. This generous donation is set to enhance the learning environment for the 850 learners, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Mr. Banele Zondani, Principal of EZ Kabane High School, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support. The donation not only improves the educational infrastructure but also uplifts the school’s morale. Additionally, ISUZU employees actively contributed by establishing a vegetable garden to support the school’s feeding scheme, and by painting and cleaning the school hall.

ISUZU and the dealership contributed R100,000 along with essential items, and spent a day engaging with the children.

Ms. Kathy Groome, Door of Hope Donor Engagement Manager, highlighted the critical nature of their work, emphasizing how ISUZU’s timely intervention bolsters their efforts to provide hope and a future for abandoned babies. The involvement of ISUZU and Williams Hunt employees added a personal touch to their support, reinforcing their commitment to community service.
