Trudy Pitout: The Legacy of “Tannie Ford”
In 1982, Trudy Pitout began her journey at Ford’s East Vaal service department. Her determined attitude and genuine passion for helping people quickly propelled her into the sales department by the age of 17. Over the years, Trudy has not only earned numerous awards but also the affectionate nickname “Tannie Ford,” a title she wears with pride. In 2021, her dedication and achievements culminated in her being named a finalist in the Women Motoring of the Year Awards, further cementing her legacy within the automotive industry.
Motubatse Elize Pete: Engineering a Future
Elize Pete’s journey with Ford began in 2022 as a Production Process Coach, a role that allowed her to merge her deep love for robotics, cars, and engineering. By 2024, she had transitioned into the role of Scheduling Analyst, showcasing her versatility and determination. Armed with a National Diploma and Bachelor of Technology in Mechatronic Engineering, along with advanced qualifications in Business Management and Administration, Elize exemplifies the multi-disciplinary talent that drives innovation at Ford. Her advice to other women entering the industry is simple yet powerful: embrace every opportunity, trust your instincts, and pursue your goals with unwavering confidence.

Yuliia Varchuk: A Journey of Passion and Perseverance
From a young girl in Saint Petersburg dreaming of designing cars to becoming a Programs and Engineering Manager at Ford, Yuliia Varchuk’s journey is one of passion and perseverance. Inspired by a childhood image of freedom—a woman in jeans driving a red Ford bakkie—Yuliia pursued her dreams despite limited opportunities in her home country. Starting as an apprentice foreman in aircraft production, she eventually realized her dream, joining Ford and becoming a staunch advocate for women in STEM. Yuliia’s story is a powerful reminder that with determination, even the most distant dreams can be realized.
Nicolien de Beer: A Young Trailblazer in the Workshop
Proving that age is no barrier to achievement, Nicolien de Beer is making her mark as a Diagnostic Technician at Ford Motus Rhodesfield in Kempton Park. Despite being one of the first women in the workshop during her matric year, Nicolien’s passion for physics and maths guided her to a career in the STEM field, where she now thrives. Her story highlights the importance of early encouragement and support, both of which she has received in abundance from her colleagues, helping her to grow into a valued member of the Ford team.
