Oxfordshire, May 7th, 2024 – This May, the esteemed Concours on Savile Row event, renowned for showcasing unparalleled craftsmanship in bespoke tailoring, will unfold with a special tribute to the legendary Rolling Stones drummer, Charlie Watts. In partnership with the bespoke tailor Huntsman, known for their illustrious 170-year history and clientele like Coco Chanel and David Bowie, Hagerty is set to present a unique exhibition featuring never-before-seen items from Watts’ private collection.
Scheduled for the 22nd and 23rd of May, this year’s event, in collaboration with Huntsman, will honor Charlie Watts, showcasing his remarkable style and love for classic automobiles. The exhibition will include Watts’ bespoke Huntsman garments, worn during significant moments in his life, and his prized 1939 Lagonda LG6 Rapide, a gem among pre-war British cars known for its art-deco design and performance prowess.
The 1939 Lagonda LG6 Rapide, a highlight of the exhibition, represents the apex of pre-war automotive engineering, capable of exceeding 100mph. Renowned for its rarity and exquisite design, the car was a treasured piece of Watts’ collection, admired not only for its historical significance but also for its aesthetic appeal. Despite never driving, Watts enjoyed the car’s presence, reflecting his appreciation for fine craftsmanship.

In addition to the exhibition, the event will feature a thoughtful discussion on Charlie Watts’ life, set in the Huntsman lounge. This discussion will be led by automotive expert Simon Taylor, Huntsman’s Dario Carnera, and Paul Sexton, author of the official Charlie Watts biography. This personal tribute will delve into Watts’ contributions to music and his passion for style and classic cars.
Moreover, guests will have the opportunity to learn about Hagerty’s Private Client service, tailored for owners of classic and collector vehicles. This service is designed to simplify the management of insurance needs for collections valued at over £250,000, offering expert valuations and bespoke services.
Mark Roper, Managing Director of Hagerty International, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are honored to partner once again with Concours on Savile Row and Huntsman for the 2024 event.
