Milton Keynes – Where nostalgia meets innovation, Volkswagen has unveiled its most visually captivating electric performance car to date: the ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice. Developed in collaboration with luxury sports fashion house BOGNER, this all-electric powerhouse pays a bold tribute to the cult classic Golf Mk2 Fire and Ice of the early ’90s—now reborn for the EV era with just 1,990 units available worldwide.
Unveiled as a concept at last year’s ID. Meeting in Locarno, Switzerland, the striking design left enthusiasts wanting more. Volkswagen listened—and now the ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice is entering series production, symbolising both a celebration of heritage and a confident stride into the brand’s electrified future.
Retro Roots, Reimagined
Wrapped in ultra-violet metallic paint—specially developed for this model and evocative of its iconic forebear—the ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice immediately commands attention. A sharp geometric F+I pattern on the C-pillar, red anodised roof strips, and exclusive puddle lights depicting fire (passenger side) and ice (driver’s side) create an electric visual narrative. The Fire & Ice logo from the original Mk2 takes pride of place on the roof spoiler, while GTX badging and tinted LED tail lights complete the dramatic look.
It rides on distinctive 20-inch Locarno alloy wheels with a diamond-turned finish, delivering stance and presence that match its performance pedigree.
Fashion-Forward Interior with Sports DNA
Inside, the BOGNER influence is unmistakable. The sports seats, trimmed in down jacket-inspired quilting, integrate built-in head restraints, subtle zip accents, and prominent FIRE+ICE logos. The cabin is dressed with meticulous detail—coloured stitching, custom logos, and ‘hot-and-cold’ accents in Flame red and Floxal blue extend the theme throughout the steering wheel, dashboard, door trims, and floor mats.
BOGNER’s Managing Director and Chief Brand Officer, Daniel Hiendlmeier, described the project as “a strong statement for the relevance of connecting fashion and mobility.” He added, “This revival of cooperation with Volkswagen marks a major milestone—not just in automotive design but in shaping lifestyle experiences.”

High Voltage, High Performance
Under its vibrant skin, the Fire & Ice edition matches the mechanical spec of the formidable ID.3 GTX Performance. It features a 326 PS (240 kW) motor and delivers 545 Nm of torque, launching it from 0–62 mph in just 5.7 seconds. An electronically limited top speed of 124 mph (where permitted) ensures it lives up to the GTX badge.
Handling is finely honed with GTX-specific chassis tuning, uprated stabilisers, and DCC adaptive chassis control—creating a dynamic yet composed driving experience.
Power comes courtesy of a 79 kWh (net) lithium-ion battery, capable of ultra-fast 185 kW DC charging. This allows for a 10–80% recharge in just 26 minutes, with a WLTP range of up to 367 miles—making it as practical as it is exhilarating.
Limited Edition, Unlimited Appeal
Priced at £48,360 OTR (including VAT), the ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice becomes available to order in the UK from Thursday 7 August 2025 through Volkswagen Retailers. With production capped at just 1,990 units, exclusivity is guaranteed.
Volkswagen Board Member for Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, Martin Sander, commented: “The response to last year’s show car was overwhelming. The ID.3 GTX Fire & Ice captures the essence of our premium sports model while honouring an iconic chapter of Volkswagen history. It’s a bridge between generations—past, present and future.”
