The Eagle Lightweight GTR is more than just a car—it is the embodiment of Jaguar’s racing spirit, reimagined for the open road. Built by Eagle E-Types in Sussex, England, this one-of-one bespoke commission channels the essence of Jaguar’s most revered racers while delivering modern performance, comfort, and craftsmanship at an extraordinary level.

For over 40 years, Eagle E-Types has been a global authority in restoring and evolving the iconic Jaguar E-Type. Their Special Editions—ranging from the Speedster and Spyder GT to the Low Drag GT and Lightweight GT—have earned worldwide acclaim, appearing in publications and on screens across the globe. The Lightweight GTR represents the pinnacle of this expertise: a road-going evolution of one of the rarest and most beautiful race cars ever made.

Originally intended as Jaguar’s racing successor to the D-Type, only 12 Lightweight E-Types were built out of 18 planned. Eagle’s mission with the Lightweight GTR was to stay true to the car’s uncompromising racing heritage while pushing performance and comfort to new heights. Using advanced engineering and carefully selected lightweight materials, the team reduced the car’s weight to just 930kg—over 30% lighter than a standard E-Type Roadster—without compromising ride quality or solidity.

Precision Engineering Meets Bespoke Design

Every line of the Lightweight GTR has been refined for a more purposeful stance. A lowered roofline, bespoke raked glass, and exquisitely finished panel gaps showcase Eagle’s attention to detail. Subtle touches—painted badges beneath the lacquer, a flush-mounted aluminium fuel cap, and integrated auxiliary switches—reinforce the car’s artistry and craftsmanship.

Under the hood, a 4.7-litre all-aluminium straight-six with a wide-angle head, titanium con-rods, and triple Weber carburettors delivers a power-to-weight ratio exceeding 430 bhp per ton. Magnesium transmission casings and an Inconel-titanium exhaust system shave weight while enhancing performance. Independent suspension geometry has been revised, titanium hubs and Öhlins adjustable dampers ensure a ride that is both agile and comfortable, and carbon-ceramic brakes with AP Racing calipers provide race-grade stopping power.

Inside, the Lightweight GTR embraces a race-car minimalist philosophy. Black Alcantara trims lightweight aluminium seats inspired by period racing designs, complemented by four-point harnesses and an integrated fire suppression system. Yet, long-distance comfort has not been overlooked—air conditioning, heated glass, and carefully considered sound and heat insulation make the GTR a grand tourer as well as a track-ready machine. A floating binnacle houses platinum switches with mother-of-pearl inlays, a magnetic phone dock, and other bespoke features tailored to the commissioning client.

Client-Led Perfection

Central to the Lightweight GTR’s creation was the collaboration between Eagle and its client. The car is the culmination of the client’s vision: a light, engaging, and timeless machine, free from unnecessary electronics, yet fully equipped for comfort and long-distance motoring.

“Today’s performance cars are getting increasingly big and heavy,” the client explained. “I wanted the antithesis: a car that is as light as possible without sacrificing comfort. With incredible performance, long-distance comfort, and timeless beauty, I couldn’t be happier with the result.”

Paul Brace of Eagle added, “Working with such a passionate client has allowed us to push the boundaries of what’s possible with a Lightweight E-Type. The result is not just a car, but a true ‘One of One’ that exemplifies the best of our philosophy and engineering.”

The Pinnacle of Eagle’s Philosophy

The Eagle Lightweight GTR is the ultimate expression of what makes Eagle E-Types unique: a combination of timeless E-Type beauty, cutting-edge engineering, and client-led bespoke detailing. Light, agile, and breathtakingly styled, it is a road-legal GT that embodies the heart and soul of a race car while offering the refinement and comfort of a grand tourer. Every aspect of the Lightweight GTR—from its 930kg kerb weight to its bespoke interior and race-inspired engineering—demonstrates a commitment to excellence rarely seen in modern automotive design.

The Eagle Lightweight GTR is not merely a car; it is a statement. A celebration of Jaguar’s storied past, a showcase of Eagle’s engineering mastery, and a triumph of client collaboration. It is, in every sense, a road-going legend reborn.
