JLR and Meridian Extend Long-Term Collaboration for High-Performance In-Car Audio Systems
Pretoria, South Africa, 01 July 2024: Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has renewed its enduring engineering collaboration with British audio pioneer Meridian to develop state-of-the-art in-car audio technology for its forthcoming electric vehicle platforms. This partnership, which began in 2010, aims to deliver unparalleled audio experiences in JLR’s luxury vehicles, including Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar.
With the extension of this collaboration, Meridian’s audio specialists will now contribute to the design of new models at an even earlier stage. This proactive involvement is crucial as JLR advances its modern luxury electrification strategy, ensuring that each cabin is meticulously crafted to provide the ultimate auditory experience.

The pinnacle of Meridian’s in-car audio technology is exemplified in the Range Rover models equipped with the Meridian Signature Sound System. This 1600W system, featuring 35 speakers—including two 20W speakers in each of the four main headrests—provides an immersive sound experience. The system’s advanced design also complements the MLA-Flex body architecture, delivering serene cabin tranquility and ensuring passengers enjoy a first-class audio experience.
A standout feature of this system is the third-generation Active Noise Cancellation, which monitors wheel vibrations, tire noise, and engine sounds transmitted into the cabin. By generating a counteracting signal through the speakers, this technology helps passengers arrive at their destination feeling refreshed, even after long journeys.
Another innovative result of the JLR and Meridian partnership is the optional Range Rover Tailgate Event Suite. This feature includes an additional four rear speakers, enhancing the entertainment system for socializing with the tailgate deployed.
