Johannesburg, 14 April 2025 – In a bold step towards a more sustainable future, DFSK South Africa has officially launched the all-new DFSK EC35 Electric Panel Van — a no-nonsense, all-electric workhorse tailored to meet the real-world needs of South African businesses. Offering a winning combination of durability, efficiency, and innovation, the EC35 is set to redefine the standards for commercial transport in the country.

“The EC35 is designed to be a practical, eco-conscious choice for South African businesses that need a reliable vehicle for cargo transport,” says Gina Giani, CEO of DFSK South Africa. “We are committed to providing an affordable, reliable, and powerful electric alternative for businesses.”

Built for Business

The EC35 has been engineered with business owners in mind — from logistics and courier companies to SMEs and tradespeople. With a payload capacity of over a ton (1,015 kg) and a cargo volume of 4.8 m³, this panel van is anything but compact when it comes to utility. The cleverly designed cargo bay — with rear loading heights as low as 755 mm — makes loading and unloading fast and efficient, saving valuable time on the job.

Its sturdy, practical frame measures 4,500 mm in length, ensuring ample space for goods without compromising on manoeuvrability in tight urban environments.

Electric Power, Without the Complexity

While many electric vehicles come with caveats, the EC35 stands apart for its ease of use and adaptability. Thanks to dual charging capabilities, the van can be plugged into a standard household socket for overnight charging or charged rapidly using DC fast chargers — reaching 80% capacity in just 60 minutes.

Powered by a 60 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor, the EC35 delivers 200 Nm of torque and offers a range of up to 240 km on a full charge. For the eco-conscious, solar charging capability takes sustainability even further, allowing for zero-emission travel that goes beyond plug-in power.

With energy consumption rated at just 14.7 kWh per 100 km, businesses can operate at a cost of around R120 per full charge — equating to just 40c per kilometre. That’s an operational saving few combustion-engine rivals can match.

Comfort Meets Technology

Behind the wheel, the EC35 keeps things simple yet surprisingly sophisticated. The interior features:

  • Air conditioning for all-weather comfort
  • 6.8” touchscreen multimedia system with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™
  • Bluetooth® connectivity with voice control
  • Reverse camera and parking sensors
  • Keyless entry and remote central locking

Whether you’re navigating Joburg’s inner-city traffic or making deliveries in Durban, the EC35 offers a surprisingly refined driving experience.

Safe and Supported

Safety is non-negotiable in any fleet vehicle, and the EC35 includes essential features such as:

  • Driver airbag
  • Pedestrian warning sound
  • Immobiliser and auto door locking
  • Central locking

More importantly, DFSK South Africa knows that after-sales support is crucial to commercial success. “We understand that reliability is the most important factor when choosing a vehicle for your business,” says Giani. “Our team has been professionally trained to handle all aspects of after-sales care, ensuring our customers experience minimal downtime and maximum value.”

Value That’s Built to Last

At an affordable starting price of R550,000 (excluding VAT), the DFSK EC35 Electric Panel Van is priced to compete with internal combustion rivals, but with far lower long-term operating and maintenance costs. Backed by a 3-year/60,000 km warranty and a 5-year warranty on the traction battery, it represents a low-risk, high-return investment.

South Africa’s EV infrastructure is also catching up fast, with over 350 fast-charging stations nationwide, making the EC35 a practical choice across urban and intercity routes.

The Smarter Way to Deliver

The DFSK EC35 is more than just a vehicle — it’s a statement of intent. It represents a turning point for South African businesses that want to embrace electric mobility without compromising on performance, reliability, or affordability. Whether you’re moving goods, reducing your carbon footprint, or simply looking for a smarter way to deliver — this is the panel van to watch.
