The challenges facing automotive industry professionals are as diverse as the vehicles they design, build, and sell. With high-pressure roles, demanding schedules, and a rapidly evolving market, the health and wellbeing of those in the sector have never been more critical. That’s where Ben, the automotive industry’s dedicated charity, comes in.

This November, Ben launches its annual Health & Wellbeing Survey, calling on everyone connected to the automotive world—whether currently working or retired—to share their experiences and insights.

A Vital Voice for the Automotive Workforce
The survey is a cornerstone of Ben’s mission to understand and address the health and wellbeing needs of the automotive family. By taking part, participants contribute to shaping the charity’s future support services and help industry employers create healthier, more resilient workplaces.

Why Your Input Matters:

  • Ben uses the results to guide its services, ensuring they meet the real needs of individuals in the automotive sector.
  • Insights are shared with employers, helping them better support their teams.

Rachel Clift, Ben’s Chief Executive Officer, emphasises:

“The insights we gain from our annual surveys are vital. They not only help us support individuals but also empower employers to build a motivated and resilient workforce. We encourage everyone in the automotive family to take part—it’s your opportunity to shape the support we provide.”

Last Year’s Findings: A Snapshot of the Industry
The 2023 survey painted a vivid picture of the health and wellbeing challenges faced by automotive workers:

  • 99.6% were personally affected by a health or wellbeing issue.
  • Stress (56%), poor sleep (51%), and anxiety (43%) were the most common issues reported.
  • 7 in 10 worried about money—a notable increase from previous years.
  • 1 in 7 considered leaving the industry, with workplace stress cited as a significant factor.

These figures underscore the importance of initiatives like Ben’s Health & Wellbeing Survey.
