In 1975, a fearless daredevil captivated crowds at the Rand Show with a flaming car stunt that would burn its way into the annals of South African motorsport history. Fifty years later, that iconic moment will roar back to life—this time with an even more electrifying twist.
International stuntman Didi Bizzarro, best known for his work on blockbuster films like Fast X, John Wick, and Red Notice, is set to headline GAS Motorshow 2025 in Durban with a performance that is equal parts homage and high-octane spectacle. Taking place over Father’s Day weekend, 14–15 June, the event marks a full-circle tribute to the man who started it all—Bizzarro’s own grandfather.
“It’s a very personal moment for me,” said Bizzarro. “To honour my grandfather by bringing this stunt back to South Africa—precisely 50 years later—is something I’ll never forget. There’s history behind it, but also a challenge: to do it justice with today’s precision and showmanship. I want it to be a real Father’s Day experience—not just for my family, but for everyone watching.”
Three Generations of Stunt Mastery
A third-generation showman, Bizzarro is the only stunt performer in the world capable of executing precision routines across three disciplines: cars, bikes, and trucks—all within the same show. From balancing a BMW on two wheels in a death-defying tilt, to gravity-defying bike stunts and monstrous truck manoeuvres, his performance promises to be a world-class masterclass in motion—and a breathtaking tribute to his family’s stunt legacy.
Motoring Mayhem Meets Festival Energy
While Bizzarro’s tribute takes centre stage, GAS Motorshow 2025 is far more than a stunt show. It’s a full-scale celebration of speed, sound, and South African culture. The lineup includes:
- Freestyle motocross exhibitions from local legends Jacques Roema and Monster Energy’s Dallen Goldman, whose acrobatic tricks—complete with 22-metre backflips and airbag landings—are guaranteed to leave jaws on the floor.
- An impressive car showcase spanning JDM legends, classic customs, stanced builds, and quarter-mile drag monsters.
- The return of the Sound Off competition, judged by internationally ranked experts, plus special appearances from some of the biggest names in the South African car scene.
