Diana Wynne Jones was born in London in the United Kingdom on the 16th of August 1934 and she passed away on the 26th of March 2011 in Bristol United Kingdom at the age of 76.
She has been dubbed as one of the best authors of Children’s fantasy books in the United Kingdom. The Harry Potter books are frequently compared to the works of Diana Wynne Jones. Many of her earlier children’s books were out of print in recent years, but have now been re-issued for the young audience whose interest in fantasy and reading was spurred by the Harry Potter book and movie series.
One of her most recognized novels included the Howl’s Moving Castle children fantasy series. Howl’s Moving Castle, first published in 1986 by Greenwillow Books of New York.
