DENZA, the premium technology-driven automotive brand of BYD Group, has made its official global debut in a spectacular launch event at Paris’ iconic Palais Garnier. The event highlighted the brand’s philosophy, ‘Technology Drives Elegance,’ showcasing how cutting-edge innovation can enhance everyday life while redefining premium mobility for drivers outside China.
The brand’s first two international models, the Z9GT shooting brake and the D9 DM-i MPV, underline DENZA’s ambition to merge performance, practicality, and technological sophistication. The Z9GT, available as both a fully electric and a Super Hybrid DM, combines the dynamic elegance of a sports car with the functional versatility of a wagon. Its tri-motor system delivers rapid acceleration, with the EV variant achieving 0-62mph in just 2.7 seconds, while independent rear-wheel steering enables exceptional manoeuvrability, from precise compass turns to lateral 'crab walks' in tight spaces. Inside, the cabin is a display of innovation, featuring a 50-inch augmented-reality head-up display, a 17.3-inch floating central screen, and additional 13.2-inch panels for driver and passenger interaction.
The D9 DM-i represents a new approach to the premium MPV segment, accommodating seven adults alongside luggage and business essentials without compromise. Its DM-i all-wheel drive powertrain offers a pure-electric range of 130 miles*, with a combined range of 590 miles* on a full tank and charge, making it ideal for urban commutes and extended journeys. Both models feature bespoke audio systems developed with French specialist Devialet, delivering immersive Dolby Atmos® experiences with 20 speakers in the Z9GT and 16 in the D9.
A cornerstone of DENZA’s European expansion is FLASH Charging, leveraging BYD’s 2nd Generation Blade Battery to deliver up to 1500kW of power. This breakthrough allows rapid recharging: 10%-70% in five minutes, 10%-97% in nine, and even in sub-zero conditions, 20%-97% in 12 minutes. Plans are underway to install 6,000 FLASH Charging stations globally within 12 months, including 3,000 across Europe, ensuring convenience and accessibility for the brand’s first international customers.
DENZA’s European rollout will initially focus on Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK, before expanding to more than 30 countries by the end of 2026, supported by a network of over 150 retail stores. In Latin America, stores in Brazil and Mexico are already taking orders for the new models, signaling the brand’s rapid international ambitions.
