Race winner and frequent podium visitor in 2011, Danny Buchan, has added to his victory tally having just been named as winner of the Alec Wright Memorial Team Green Trophy.
Awarded to the Kawasaki Team Green rider that most personifies the spirit of Team Green across the racing season, the trophy is named after the founder of the Team Green concept in the UK, Alec Wright.
Having been awarded for the first time last year to rising Welsh Motocross star Connor Walkley, the trophy now travels to Buchan’s native Essex destined to share space in his rapidly expanding awards cabinet.
Winning the inaugural 2011 round of the National Superstock Championship at Brands Hatch on his MSS Colchester Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, 18 year old Buchan quickly proved his mettle with further rostrums across the season along with a character forming fight back to fitness mid-year due to an uncharacteristic crash.
Ending the season as runner up in one of the hardest fought championships in UK racing, Buchan is sure that being part of Team Green has played a vital part in his development commenting that;
“Being part of the Team Green set up has certainly helped shape me as a racer both on-track and in how I conduct myself in the pit box and paddock. I can honestly say that without the structure that Team Green provides I would not be the successful racer I am today.”
Racing Coordinator for Kawasaki Motors UK, Ross Burridge, endorsed Buchan’s view that the Team Green philosophy is a unique and valuable part of Kawasaki heritage saying;
“Alec Wright set the foundations in place for a very special approach to racing that has benefited
countless thousands of riders – many of whom have become champions and household names. For
Danny this is a singular honour and we are proud to award the 2011 Alec Wright Memorial Team
Green Trophy to him”.
