The Dakar Rally 2013 Started on the 5th of January 2013 in Lima, Peru, South America. Earlier this year we recorded an interview with Riaan van Niekerk and Darryl Curtis at the Johannesburg Motorcycle Show 2012. Both Riaan van Niekerk and Darryl Curtis will ride in the Dakar for South Africa and KTM Motorcycles beeing sponsored by Broadlink, MTN, Emperors Palace, Grindrod Logistics, Leader Tread and KTM.

Riaan van Niekerk was born on December 8, 2012 in South Africa, he like Mountain Biking, Adventure Riding and Wildlife. He is extremely passionate about motorcycle racing and have proven to be a competitive rider.

Racing in the Dakar has always been a life long dream for Riaan van Niekerk and from an early age he have watched legends like Kinigadner, Peterhansel and Sala race through the deserts of Africa in the DAKAR and wanted to compete in the Dakar himself.

After the first day of the Dakar 2013 Riaan van Niekerk is currently in position no 15 and it looks like he is going to have the race of his life, and hopefully make South Africa proud ending in the top positions for the Dakar 2013 Rally.

About Darryl Curtis Dakar Rider

Daryl Curtis is one of South Africa’s most experience off-road bikers, he have more than 24 years professional racing experience and have been riding for KTM for the past 14 years.

Darryl Curtis have raced in several International Six Day Enduro’s, desert races in America, world extreme races like Erzberg, Hell’s Gate, The Tough One, Ro- maniacs and the Roof of Africa and have proved himself to be a good and competitive motorcycle endurance rider.
