Daimler Trucks Asia accelerated its growth in Asia and Africa. Here, the world’s leading truck manufacturer reported a positive start on the African continent : With more than 1,000 brand vehicles sold by FUSO in January and February 2014 Daimler Trucks Asia nearly doubled the sales figures of the previous year 2013 , where Daimler in Africa sold 8,500 FUSO trucks.

In order to open up further growth potential , Daimler combines the strengths of the commercial vehicle Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corporation (MFTBC ) and Daimler India Commercial Vehicles ( DICV ) under the ” Asia Business Model ” . This brand vehicles FUSO from India come into promising new markets in Africa and South East Asia specifically . Since May 2013 DICV produced five new FUSO truck models that are immediately exported to Kenya , Sri Lanka , Zambia, and also from Tanzania.

We employ intelligent platforms to align our products optimally to the requirements of each market. ” FUSO plays a central role for the major African and Asian growth markets: ” Our brand FUSO is well established in Africa and Asia. In combination with the products from our Indian production, we want to increase our sales in these important growth markets. ”

Dr. Albert Kirchmann, Head of Daimler Trucks Asia and MFTBC President & CEO : “In a growing economy results in an increased demand for the transport of goods. Of this we intend to benefit in Southeast Asian and African markets with FUSO . 2014 we managed a successful start with FUSO in Africa, but we are not concerned about the rapid success . Our activities in these countries are long-term . ”

Daimler Trucks Asia invested from 2014 to 2018 as planned 300 million euro in the international sales and production structures in order to generate further growth. By the year 2020, are sold worldwide around 290,000 units of the brand FUSO and BharatBenz . To this end, Daimler Trucks Asia builds consistently from the presence in growth markets .

Example Tanzania: the country is considered one of the fastest growing economies in Africa. The economy of Tanzania has grown in recent years by an average of around seven percent and is expected this rate of growth according to experts retained in the next ten years .

Gradually, the designed for emerging markets FUSO trucks are delivered in eleven other export markets : Bangladesh , Brunei, Indonesia , Malawi, Malaysia , Mauritius, Mozambique , Seychelles, Zimbabwe , Thailand and Uganda.

To strengthen its presence in growth markets , both companies rely on an integrated product portfolio for more variety as well as an optimized production network with the truck plants in Kawasaki , Japan, and Chennai , India, as the main production sites .
