Milton Keynes, 17 October 2024 – In a bold move to encourage more drivers to switch to electric vehicles (EVs), CUPRA has unveiled a pioneering new initiative for its all-electric Born model. For the first time in the UK, retail customers can take advantage of a three-month return option, easing concerns that may arise during the transition to electric motoring. The scheme, aptly named ‘Love Me or Leave Me,’ provides drivers with the opportunity to experience the CUPRA Born without long-term commitment.
As part of this offer, if within the first three months an owner decides that EV ownership does not fit their lifestyle, they can return the vehicle to CUPRA, receiving their deposit back—whether the car was purchased outright or financed—subject to terms such as vehicle condition and mileage limits. This innovative scheme not only underscores CUPRA’s confidence in the Born’s capabilities but also reassures potential buyers who may still be on the fence about going electric.
Electric Performance Without the Risk
The CUPRA Born has already garnered significant attention for its combination of sleek, sporty design and dynamic performance. Available in several variants, including the high-performance VZ model which boasts a 326PS electric powertrain capable of 0-62 mph in just 5.6 seconds, the Born is one of the most practical yet thrilling electric cars available today.
“It’s safe to say that the new scheme is ground-breaking,” commented Marcus Gossen, Director of SEAT and CUPRA UK. “For drivers who have been considering an EV but are hesitant about whether it will suit their lifestyle, this offers the perfect opportunity to try it without the long-term commitment. The CUPRA Born already delivers great range, performance, and a sporty interior that our customers love, but now they have the added peace of mind that they can hand the car back if it’s not the right fit for them.”

Partnerships that Make EV Ownership Even Easier
In addition to the flexible return policy, CUPRA has introduced further initiatives to enhance the ownership experience. By partnering with OVO, one of the UK’s leading energy suppliers, CUPRA is offering 10,000 miles of free charging to Born owners who add OVO’s Charge Anytime tariff to their energy plan. This plan allows for smart charging at home at a highly competitive rate of just 7p per kWh, regardless of the time of day.
Moreover, CUPRA has teamed up with Ohme, an innovative EV charging company, to provide Born owners with a free home charger. Ohme’s charger integrates seamlessly with home energy tariffs, enabling drivers to schedule charging sessions via a mobile app. This means users can optimise charging to suit their electricity usage patterns, saving on costs while reducing their carbon footprint.
David Watson, CEO of Ohme, praised the collaboration, stating, “Ohme is committed to ensuring that no driver is left behind in the transition to greater e-mobility. This is an exciting and innovative scheme, and we look forward to continuing our work with CUPRA and OVO to make EV motoring more accessible and cost-effective for drivers across the UK.”
Breaking Down Barriers to Electric Motoring
The ‘Love Me or Leave Me’ scheme, combined with CUPRA’s strategic partnerships with OVO and Ohme, reflects a forward-thinking approach to accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles. By offering potential buyers the flexibility to return their car and simplifying the charging experience with free miles and home charging solutions, CUPRA is removing some of the key concerns around EV ownership.
As electric mobility becomes increasingly central to the future of driving, initiatives like these play a crucial role in building consumer confidence. The CUPRA Born is not just a car—it’s a statement of how the automotive landscape is changing, with style, performance, and sustainability all rolled into one.
