Milton Keynes, 16 October 2025 – CUPRA has reached a remarkable milestone, producing its one millionth car in just seven years since the brand’s inception. This landmark vehicle, a CUPRA Formentor, was crafted at the brand’s Martorell headquarters, cementing CUPRA’s position as one of Europe’s fastest-growing automotive brands.

Seven Models, One Million Cars
Since its establishment in 2018 as the first new brand created within the Volkswagen Group, CUPRA has continually challenged the status quo, offering an alternative for the next generation of car lovers. Positioned between the mass and premium segments, the brand thrives on creativity and reinvention, blending provocative design with high-performance engineering.
CUPRA’s portfolio now spans seven distinctive models:
- CUPRA Ateca, the first vehicle to carry the CUPRA badge.
- CUPRA Leon, redesigned as a standalone model to embody CUPRA’s ethos.
- CUPRA Formentor, the brand’s first exclusive development and best-selling vehicle to date.
- CUPRA Born, the company’s first fully electric vehicle.
- CUPRA Tavascan, an all-electric SUV coupe.
- CUPRA Terramar, a sporty SUV designed for versatility.

The One Millionth CUPRA: Formentor e-HYBRID
The milestone vehicle is a CUPRA Formentor e-HYBRID finished in Magnetic Tech matt, showcasing CUPRA’s new design DNA. Its shark-nose front, triangular CUPRA Matrix LED lights, and illuminated rear logo highlight the brand’s unmistakable presence.
Inside, the Formentor offers refined interiors with redesigned center console, dashboard, door panels, and upholstery. Its plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers 272PS (200kW), pairing the 1.5 TSI engine with an electric motor and a larger 19.7 kWh battery. This combination exemplifies CUPRA’s belief that electrification and performance are complementary, further solidifying the Formentor as Europe’s best-selling A-CUV.
Honouring the People Behind the Milestone
CUPRA is celebrating this achievement by raffling the Formentor e-HYBRID among all employees for a three-year use period. This gesture acknowledges the dedication and talent of CUPRA’s teams, whose efforts have propelled the brand to global recognition. “The CUPRA one million is not just a number; it’s the result of the passion and commitment of everyone in our brand. This celebration is for our teams, placing them at the heart of this historic milestone,” said Laura Carnicero, Executive Vice-President for People and Organization.
Driving Electrification from Martorell
CUPRA is spearheading the electrification of its Martorell factory, part of a €10 billion investment in Spain alongside the Volkswagen Group, PowerCo, and Future: Fast Forward partners. €3 billion has been dedicated to transforming Martorell, with Line 1 being prepared for the production of the Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car family. From 2026, the CUPRA Raval and Volkswagen ID. Polo will roll off this line, supported by a new €300 million battery assembly plant nearing completion.
From Barcelona to the World
CUPRA’s ambition extends far beyond Spain. With 12 global CUPRA City Garages, including recent openings in Vienna and Manchester, the brand is expanding its international footprint and exploring new high-potential markets such as the Middle East.
