Milton Keynes, 16 August 2025 – CUPRA has announced that its Born range – the award-winning fully electric hatchback – now qualifies for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG), giving drivers a £1,500 saving at the point of purchase.
Under the new Level 2 scheme, which launched last month, all CUPRA Born models – V1, V2 and V3 – equipped with either the 59kWh or 79kWh battery, are eligible for the grant. The discount is applied automatically to the on-the-road price, with no paperwork or additional steps required by customers.
With the grant included, the CUPRA Born V1 starts from £34,190 OTR with the 59kWh battery and £35,495 OTR with the 79kWh battery, making the striking electric hatchback more attainable than ever.
Sustainability Meets Accessibility
To qualify for the ECG, manufacturers must meet stringent technical and sustainability standards – benchmarks that CUPRA has long embraced in its design and manufacturing. The Born already incorporates recycled materials into its interior, including seat upholstery crafted from sustainable sources, reinforcing CUPRA’s ambition to make electric mobility both exciting and responsible.

Summer Drive Event: Bigger Savings Across the Range
Alongside the Government grant, CUPRA is enhancing customer choice with its Summer Drive Event, running from 15 August to 30 September 2025. The initiative brings exclusive discounts and charging benefits across the brand’s range:
- CUPRA Tavascan: Save £3,000, plus receive a £99 Ohme home charger and 30,000 free miles from OVO. The all-electric SUV coupé blends progressive styling with state-of-the-art EV technology.
- CUPRA Born: An additional £1,000 discount, plus the £1,500 ECG – with the same charging package included.
- Petrol and hybrid models: The Terramar, Formentor, Leon, Leon Estate, and Ateca all benefit from a £1,000 saving.
This combination of Government support and brand-led offers ensures that CUPRA customers can access significant savings whether they’re choosing a fully electric model or one of the brand’s high-performance petrol or hybrid vehicles.
Driving Electrification Forward

“At CUPRA, we’ve never followed the crowd and when it comes to electrification, we’re charging ahead. The enhanced Government Electric Car Grant is a powerful step forward, and when combined with CUPRA’s disruptive design, further offers, and flexible finance, it means more drivers can experience the thrill of electric mobility without compromise.”
