Expertise at the Service of Performance
A Citroën Charged with Watts
At the core of Citroën’s Formula E challenge is the GEN3 Evo single-seater — a marvel of sustainable performance engineering. Faster, lighter, and more efficient than ever before, it stands as a symbol of the brand’s commitment to progress.
Developed around the Spark Racing Technology GEN3 chassis, the car’s ultra-light carbon monocoque meets the highest FIA safety standards while weighing just 859 kg (driver included). This results in extraordinary agility and precision, rivaling that of traditional combustion single-seaters — yet powered entirely by electricity.
Beneath its aerodynamic silhouette, the electric powertrain delivers 350 kW (470 hp), launching from 0 to 100 km/h in a staggering 1.86 seconds and reaching top speeds of around 320 km/h — the fastest in Formula E history.
A dual-motor system adds another layer of brilliance. The rear motor propels, the front regenerates, and in “Attack Mode,” both combine for temporary four-wheel drive, recovering up to 600 kW during braking — enabling nearly half of the consumed energy to be reused.
All this power is stored in a 47 kWh battery, meticulously tuned for instant delivery, durability, and thermal stability.
Engineered at the Heart of Stellantis Motorsport
The single-seater is the product of Stellantis Motorsport in Satory, under the direction of Jean Marc Finot — a team carrying over a decade of Formula E experience. Their mastery of electric race technology encompasses everything from powertrain design and inverter efficiency to advanced thermal management and regeneration systems.
“We do much more than design a single-seater — we are reviving Citroën passion in one of the most visionary championships in the world,” says Finot. “Our expertise now enables us to master the essential balance between power management, efficiency and reliability — the foundation of Formula E success.”
Every lesson learned from this championship will influence Citroën’s production models, driving advances in battery management, braking energy recovery, inverter optimisation and software efficiency — bridging racetrack innovation and real-world mobility.
A Livery that Electrifies
Visually, Citroën’s Formula E machine is unmistakably French. Designed by Citroën’s Design Centre, the tricolour livery radiates energy and identity — a vivid red nose representing passion and legacy, fading into electric blue through white chevron stripes that mirror the brand’s emblem.
Three colours. Three promises: passion, technology, pride — a statement of French expertise brought to life at 320 km/h.

An Elite Team of Talent
Citroën’s Formula E campaign is spearheaded by two world-class drivers and an experienced team principal — a trio poised to deliver immediate impact.
Jean-Éric Vergne – The French Benchmark
A two-time Formula E champion and former Formula 1 driver, Jean-Éric Vergne embodies the perfect mix of experience and national pride.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Citroën — such an iconic French brand. Representing my country and helping shape this new team is an incredible honour. With our expertise and ambition, I’m confident we can fight for podiums and victories right from our first season.”
Nick Cassidy – The Global Contender
Joining him is Nick Cassidy, one of motorsport’s most versatile modern talents. With titles in Japan’s Super GT, Super Formula, and Formula 3, along with multiple wins and podiums in Formula E, Cassidy’s technical finesse and racecraft bring balance to Citroën’s lineup.
“Citroën joining Formula E is huge. This brand has heritage and ambition — and we have everything we need to build something truly special. Working with Jean-Éric and this team, we’re aiming for results and legacy.”
Cyril Blais – The Strategist at the Helm
Leading the operation is Cyril Blais, former Maserati Team Principal and Formula E engineer, known for his collaborative leadership and forward-thinking approach. His expertise in simulator technology, energy strategy and team cohesion will be key to translating Citroën’s potential into podium performance.
“My goal is to consolidate achievements, build on experience and foster collective excellence. Formula E rewards intelligence and efficiency — and that’s where Citroën will shine,” says Blais.
The Stakes of a New Challenge
Reigniting the Spirit of Motorsport
For Citroën, Formula E represents more than competition — it’s a celebration of human values, emotion and collective pride. Motorsport has always been a cornerstone of the brand’s DNA, from C3 Rally2 kits thrilling private teams worldwide, to championship-winning factory entries.
Now, Formula E becomes Citroën’s new stage for innovation, uniting fans, employees and enthusiasts under one electrified banner.
A Championship that Mirrors Citroën’s Commitments
Formula E is not just fast — it’s visionary. The world’s first net-zero carbon championship combines high technology with sustainability.
Every element — from recycled tyres and optimised logistics to energy recovery and responsible event management (ISO 20121) — reflects the future of responsible racing. For Citroën, whose brand ethos champions accessible, sustainable mobility, this alignment is natural and powerful.
The championship’s urban circuits — racing through city hearts — resonate with Citroën’s mission to democratise electric mobility through vehicles like the Ami and ë-C3, designed for connected, eco-conscious urban lifestyles.
A Global Platform for a New Generation
With 18 rounds in 12 countries, Formula E offers Citroën global visibility and a direct connection to younger, more engaged audiences. The demographic overlap is striking: digital-native, gender-balanced, and eco-minded fans who see innovation and purpose as inseparable.
For Citroën, this is both a marketing opportunity and a cultural evolution — merging heritage with modernity, accessibility with performance.
Reconnecting with 60 Years of Racing Legend
Citroën’s journey through motorsport is woven into the fabric of its identity. From the 1959 Monte Carlo Rally victory with the ID 19, through the ZX Rallye Raid’s four Paris-Dakar triumphs, to nine consecutive WRC titles with Sébastien Loeb and WTCC dominance with the C-Elysée — the chevron brand has consistently conquered every discipline it has entered.
Even its roots in single-seater competition run deep. The Citroën MEP, created in the 1960s, embodied the brand’s philosophy of accessible innovation, serving as a training ground for future French racing talent.
Now, six decades later, Citroën returns to the single-seater arena — this time fully electric, fully committed, and fully charged to write the next chapter of its motorsport saga.
An Electrified Future Anchored in Heritage
Citroën’s entry into Formula E marks a fusion of heritage and horizon — a reinvention of racing passion for a new era. By combining technical mastery, French artistry, and a commitment to sustainable innovation, Citroën isn’t just joining Formula E.
It’s redefining it — with style, substance, and an unmistakable spark.
