Citroën has officially expanded its South African commercial lineup with the launch of the all-new Hola panel van, a compact workhorse purpose-built to meet the rapidly accelerating demand for sub-half-tonne delivery solutions. Introduced under the stewardship of Stellantis, the Hola arrives at a moment when urban logistics, e-commerce fulfilment and SME distribution networks are straining under the weight of fast-rising parcel volumes and increasingly congested city environments.
South Africa’s delivery ecosystem has shifted dramatically in recent years, driven by a surge in online retail behaviour and last-mile service expectations. According to Citroën South Africa, the country recorded approximately 35 million more e-commerce purchases in 2024 compared to 2019, with demand continuing to grow at double-digit rates. This surge has created a clear operational gap: businesses require compact, fuel-efficient vehicles that can navigate dense urban grids, slip into tight parking bays, and still carry meaningful payloads without the cost burden of traditional larger vans or bakkies.
The Hola is engineered precisely for that space between capability and agility. It features a fully enclosed payload bay with a 386 kg carrying capacity, supported by an integrated bulkhead and secure load tie-down points that prioritise cargo safety and organisation. For small businesses and courier operators, this translates into a more controlled and protected delivery environment, particularly in high-frequency stop-and-go urban routes where efficiency and security matter equally.
Power comes from a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder PureTech petrol engine producing 60 kW and 115 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Designed for practicality and low operating costs, the engine meets Euro 5 compliance standards and delivers a combined fuel consumption figure of just 5.6 ℓ/100 km, alongside CO₂ emissions of 133 g/km. In a segment where margins are often defined by fuel expenditure and maintenance cycles, these figures position the Hola as a cost-conscious solution for operators scaling their fleets or launching new delivery services.
Urban manoeuvrability is another defining trait. With an overall length just under four metres and a tight 10-metre turning circle, the Hola is built to move through narrow streets and crowded loading zones with minimal friction. An elevated driving position enhances visibility, giving drivers improved situational awareness in complex traffic conditions where pedestrians, delivery bikes and vehicles constantly intersect.
Inside the cabin, the Hola blends commercial practicality with modern digital convenience. A 10-inch high-definition touchscreen provides wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, enabling seamless access to navigation tools such as Google Maps and Waze. This is complemented by a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, power steering, air conditioning, and a multifunction steering wheel designed to reduce driver fatigue during long urban shifts.
Safety and reassurance are equally prioritised, with dual front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors forming a comprehensive protection suite for city driving. These features are particularly relevant in environments where frequent stops, tight manoeuvres and unpredictable traffic conditions are part of daily operations.
Pricing begins at R242,500 including VAT, positioning the Hola as one of the more accessible entry points into purpose-built commercial mobility. It is backed by a 5-year or 100,000 km warranty, 15,000 km service intervals, and the option of an additional 2-year or 30,000 km service plan through Stellantis’ national dealer network, reinforcing long-term ownership confidence for both independent operators and growing fleet businesses.
