PRETORIA – Soccer teams from 6 local schools were treated to a full day’s worth of soccer at the Sun Valley Primary school in Mabopane this week.

Chevrolet Ute Force delivered soccer kit to the six disadvantaged schools in the north of Pretoria. Each participating school received a full set of soccer kit, comprising socks, shoes, shorts and shirts and One World Futbols, the nearly indestructible and ultra-durable soccer balls in their training pack.

The soccer development programme, run by Dreamfields Project, the Non-Profit organisation that focuses on soccer development, trains teachers to become coaches and show them how to create soccer leagues.

Supported by the Department of Basic Education, similar soccer clinics had been rolled out across all nine provinces over the last three years.

Tim Hendon, Chevrolet Brand Manager, said soccer development has become a key focus for Chevrolet. “We reach so many communities through the beautiful game of soccer and young children are given the opportunity to realise their football potential and prowess,” said Hendon.

Hendon added that the One World Futbol given to each school, is part of a one and a half million-ball sponsorship made by global Chevrolet into disadvantaged communities across the world.

John Perlman, CEO and founder of Dreamfields said “You can only bring your dreams closer if you work at it, each day, every day. And you can only grow football dreams if you play all the time.”

Perlman also praised the One World Futbol, saying it is truly a miracle ball. “The children we work with at Dreamfields simply don’t want to stop playing. And thanks to Chevrolet they now have a football that is as strong and durable as their dreams will need to be.”

To date the Chevrolet Ute Force project has impacted more than 130 schools since 2013. In addition Chevrolet South Africa has distributed more than 60 000 One World Futbols in needy communities across South Africa as part of the global Chevrolet One World Play Project.
