One more reason why Chevrolet owners love their cars

According to the 2008 Synovate Product Quality Awards, the Chevrolet Aveo achieved a score of 68 problems per hundred (PPH) vehicles, well below the passenger vehicle average of 103 PPH. Chevrolet is GM’s number one global brand and in South Africa the Aveo and Spark have achieved consistently high sales volumes since the re-introduction of the brand five years ago.

Chevrolet Aveo and Spark owners have consistently rated their vehicles as having high quality levels in previous quality studies from 2007 and 2008. “Our success in the latest Synovate Survey is a direct result of the focus that has been put into flawlessly launching new products into our markets, including imported products made in GM plants around the globe,” says GMSA Quality Manager Andy Alexander. According to Alexander there’s a marked improvement in quality this year because “comprehensive product problem resolution processes have been stepped up since the establishment of an Independent Quality Organisation within GMSA improving on an already impressive quality product.” The primary focus of GMSA’s quality organisation is on finding permanent solutions building on a culture of never-ending improvement.

The brand’s success can further be attributed to the relevance of the products on the market. The entry level Chevrolet Spark, which retails from just R68,560 and the Chevrolet Aveo from R112, 900 are consistently at the top of their respective segments in the market, in terms of sales. This study proves that affordability need not mean sacrificing quality.

“The Chevrolet brand represents high quality products that offer value for money to consumers. Our goal is to produce products that surprise and delight our customers by exceeding their expectations and we are pleased to note how well the Chevrolet brand has been accepted by South African consumers,” says Chevrolet Marketing Manager Melanie Maddux.

Chevrolet Awards in the 2008 Synovate Quality Survey in the Passenger Car Segment:

  • Entry segment: The Chevrolet Spark shares joint second place.
  • Small Hatch: The Chevrolet Aveo hatch takes second position while the Opel Corsa shares the Gold Award jointly.
  • Small Sedan: The Chevrolet Aveo Sedan came second in this segment
