Chery Secures Top Position Among Global Chinese Auto Brands for Second Consecutive Year
Chery has once again claimed the top spot in the automotive category of the esteemed Google X Kantar BrandZ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders for 2024. This achievement marks the second consecutive year that Chery has led the pack among Chinese automotive brands with global appeal, solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.
The report, compiled by Kantar, a trusted third-party measurement partner, highlights Chery’s exceptional brand strength and growth trajectory. This year, the report featured a record eight Chinese auto brands, underscoring the sector’s increasing prominence on the global stage.
Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa, expressed pride in Chery’s achievement, noting, “Chery’s consistent rise in brand value reflects not only superior product offerings but also a deep commitment to customer satisfaction.”
The report reveals that Chery’s customer-centric approach has resonated strongly with consumers, with a significant majority citing trust and the brand’s ability to meet diverse needs as key factors influencing their preference for Chinese auto brands. This sentiment has notably boosted Chery’s reputation as a favored global automotive brand.

In 2023, Chery set new records with 937,148 vehicles exported, marking a remarkable 101.1% year-on-year increase. This achievement reinforces Chery’s 21-year leadership as China’s top passenger vehicle exporter. The momentum continues into 2024, with Chery reporting cumulative sales of 902,209 vehicles from January to May, representing a 51% increase compared to the previous year.
Central to Chery’s success are its acclaimed product lines, such as the Tiggo series, which have garnered a loyal international following. The Tiggo 7, for instance, has dominated the A-class SUV segment among Chinese brands for three consecutive years, achieving global sales exceeding 800,000 units. It also earned top honors in JD Power’s 2023 China APEAL and boasts a five-star ANCAP safety rating. Similarly, the Tiggo 8 has captivated 900,000 users, with 2023 sales surpassing 200,000 units alone.
Liu attributes Chery’s triumph to their unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality automotive products tailored to global consumer needs. “Our customer-centric approach has been pivotal in earning Chery a distinguished position among global brands,” he emphasized.
As Chery continues to receive accolades like the Google X Kantar BrandZ Report, it reaffirms the brand’s status as a cornerstone of China’s automotive export success story.
