On August 5, the Chery Holding Group marked a significant milestone by debuting on the Fortune Global 500 list, securing the 385th position with a revenue of R720 billion. This prestigious list, compiled by Fortune magazine, ranks the top 500 companies worldwide based on their fiscal performance.
From Humble Beginnings to Global Recognition
Founded just 27 years ago, Chery has evolved from a modest start to a globally respected automotive powerhouse. This achievement underscores Chery’s unwavering commitment to its core values: environmental sensitivity, cutting-edge technology, market-leading quality and value, and the importance of family and companionship. These principles have helped Chery garner a customer base of 14.2 million users worldwide.
Expansive Global Footprint
Chery’s operations span 80 countries and regions, making it one of the Chinese automotive brands with the most extensive global presence on the Fortune Global 500 list. The company’s journey of quality development is evident from its impressive sales growth. From 2021 to 2023, Chery’s annual sales nearly doubled, rising from 962,000 to 1.881 million vehicles. As the leading Chinese exporter of passenger cars, Chery has exported 3.9 million units to date. Remarkably, in 2023, one in every three exported Chinese passenger vehicles was a Chery. In the first half of 2024 alone, Chery’s sales have already surpassed 1.1 million vehicles.

Commitment to Customers
“Chery will, however, not allow accolades like these to estrange us from our loyal customer base. If anything, this only intensifies our determination to grow closer to markets such as South Africa where love for the Chery brand has surpassed our wildest expectations,” said Tony Liu, Chery South Africa’s Executive Deputy General Manager. This statement reflects Chery’s dedication to maintaining a close relationship with its customers, even as it celebrates significant achievements.
Recent Accolades
Chery’s inclusion in the Fortune Global 500 follows its recent recognition with the Gold Award in the annual NADA Dealer Satisfaction Index. Additionally, Chery claimed the top spot in the auto category of the prestigious Google X Kantar BrandZ Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders for 2024.
Chery’s debut on the Fortune Global 500 is a testament to its strategic vision, robust growth, and commitment to excellence.
