Chery, a global leader in automotive innovation, is accelerating its artificial intelligence (AI) ambitions through a groundbreaking partnership between its Aimoga robotics R&D team and DeepSeek, an emerging AI powerhouse renowned for its cost-efficient training technology. This collaboration aims to enhance the voice interaction capabilities of Aimoga robots, marking another milestone in Chery’s strategic investment in AI-driven innovation.

Driving the Future of Intelligent Mobility

Building upon the success of its Lion intelligence cockpit system, Chery is taking a significant leap forward by integrating DeepSeek’s advanced AI models into its Aimoga robotics ecosystem. This initiative reflects Chery’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to AI advancements—a strategy that has been in development for over 15 years.

“Our collaboration with DeepSeek is a natural extension of Chery’s long-standing commitment to AI-driven innovation,” stated Verene Petersen, National Marketing Manager for Chery South Africa. “By integrating advanced voice interaction capabilities into Aimoga robots, we’re enhancing their role in automotive retail and exploring how intelligent voice technology could shape future mobility experiences. As we continue refining these capabilities, we see exciting potential for broader applications across Chery’s ecosystem.”

Why DeepSeek? The AI Edge

DeepSeek has garnered attention for its disruptive low-cost AI training methods. Powered by NVIDIA H800 chips, the company’s AI models operate under an open-source framework, offering complete transparency in model weights and training logs under the MIT protocol. These advantages make DeepSeek an ideal partner for Chery, aligning with the automaker’s philosophy of democratizing technology for the benefit of all.

The Aimoga robotics team has already integrated DeepSeek’s V2, V3, and R1 models into its robot cloud platform, powering the interaction systems for Chery’s 4S store marketing robots. Real-world testing on Chery’s robot hardware is set to commence next week, marking the beginning of a new phase in AI-enhanced robotics.

A Legacy of AI Innovation

Chery’s commitment to AI is not new. Since venturing into AI in 2010, the automaker has strategically built an intelligent, interconnected technology base, collaborating with industry leaders such as Baidu. The 2018 launch of CheryLion cemented its entry into the AI domain, followed by a dedicated humanoid robotics R&D programme in 2020.

This culminated in the 2023 debut of Aimoga-branded robots, including humanoid robots and robotic dogs. With a mass production plan announced last year, Chery has transitioned from research and development to full-scale deployment, firmly establishing itself as an AI innovator.

Scaling AI-Driven Robotics for Global Markets

Looking ahead, Chery intends to introduce its humanoid robots to overseas markets in the first half of this year. The initial focus will be on car sales assistance, with future applications expanding to a fully integrated human-robot-vehicle ecosystem.

This vision underscores Chery’s ambition to redefine mobility by seamlessly merging AI, robotics, and intelligent automotive systems. As the company pioneers human-robot collaboration in vehicle sales and beyond, it continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the AI-driven future.

With a legacy of innovation and a future firmly anchored in AI, Chery is not just keeping pace with technological evolution—it is driving it forward.
