Chery South Africa will spotlight its latest hybrid and plug-in hybrid models at the Festival of Motoring 2025, taking place from 29–31 August at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the automaker’s advanced Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) range, highlighting performance, efficiency, and next-generation safety technologies.
At the forefront of Chery’s electrified showcase is the all-new Tiggo 9 CSH, a flagship PHEV that blends power, range, and innovation. Earlier this month, it became the first vehicle in Africa to undergo a real-world dual-vehicle collision test, underlining Chery’s commitment to world-class safety standards.
The Tiggo 9 will be available in two high-performance variants:
- FWD Pinnacle CSH – Equipped with an 18.3 kWh battery, producing 280 kW and 610 N.m of torque, it offers up to 90 km of all-electric driving and a combined fuel consumption of just 1.5 L/100 km.
- AWD Vanguard CSH – Featuring a 34.4 kWh battery, this range-topping model delivers 455 kW and 920 N.m, with an AER of 160 km and efficiency as low as 1.4 L/100 km.
Both variants boast a total driving range of up to 1,400 km, combining long-distance practicality with zero-emission city driving.

“2025 has been a milestone year for Chery in South Africa,” says Verene Petersen, National Brand and Marketing Manager for Chery South Africa. “By introducing more hybrid models, we aim to make electrified motoring accessible across segments and price points, allowing South Africans to truly benefit from the efficiency, performance, and sustainability of hybrid technology.”
Joining the Tiggo 9 CSH are the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH plug-in hybrids, both offering over 90 km of electric-only driving and a combined range of up to 1,200 km. Designed for drivers seeking flexibility, these models deliver electric commuting paired with petrol-powered long-haul confidence.
Completing the lineup is the Tiggo Cross HEV, South Africa’s most affordable hybrid SUV. Priced from R439,900, it delivers 150 kW and 310 N.m, while achieving a combined fuel consumption of 5.4 L/100 km—enough to cover more than 1,000 km on a single tank.
The Festival of Motoring 2025 will mark the first time South Africans can experience Chery’s full Super Hybrid lineup in one place, with dedicated test drives and product showcases running throughout the three-day event at Kyalami.
