Chery Group closed 2025 with a landmark year, solidifying its position as a global automotive powerhouse. The Chinese automaker sold 2.81 million vehicles, a 7.8% year-on-year increase, while exports reached historic highs, securing Chery’s title as China’s top passenger vehicle exporter for the 23rd consecutive year.

The year’s performance was fuelled by strong growth in new energy vehicles (NEVs), which surged 54.9% to 903,847 units. Flagship models such as the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH led the charge, alongside a portfolio of advanced AI, intelligent technologies, and low-carbon solutions.

Global and Local Milestones

Chery’s international expansion gained momentum, with notable breakthroughs in Europe and record sales in South Africa. The Group’s December 2025 sales of 244,928 vehicles capped a year of sustained growth, bringing cumulative vehicle sales to 2,806,393 units. Within this, Chery Automobile alone sold 2,631,382 units, marking an 8% increase over 2024.

South Africa has emerged as a strategic growth market. Chery South Africa posted steadily rising figures throughout 2025, driven by an expanding SUV lineup, new hybrid models, and the debut of the range-topping Tiggo 9. November 2025 was a record month, with 2,506 vehicles sold, the highest in the brand’s local history.

Exports Reach Unprecedented Heights

Chery’s export performance was equally impressive. December exports reached 144,430 vehicles, a 46.8% increase year-on-year, marking the first time monthly exports exceeded 140,000 units. Annual exports climbed 17.4% to 1,344,020 vehicles, bringing cumulative exports to 5.85 million units—a historic benchmark for Chinese automakers across monthly, annual, and cumulative metrics.

Innovation and Technology Leadership

Chery’s success is underpinned by its “fuel-electric synergy” strategy, integrating traditional and new energy vehicles into a diverse, globally competitive lineup. Over 90% of new products launched in 2025 were NEVs, with models like the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH cementing Chery’s position at the forefront of the NEV market.

The Group also unveiled over 10 globally leading technologies, spanning intelligent systems, electric mobility, and low-carbon solutions. Chery plans to further highlight its AI advancements in an upcoming AI Night, reflecting its strategic commitment to technological innovation.

Strategic Global Expansion

Chery continues to strengthen its footprint in high-regulation markets such as Europe. Its collaboration project in Spain has been hailed as a “model of China-Spain cooperation”, while market entries across 15 European countries—including the UK, Spain, and Italy—have drawn praise from influential automotive media like Carwow.

New Ventures Drive Commercial Success

Beyond vehicles, Chery is building future-oriented business ecosystems encompassing parts, finance, software, and green energy. Its AiMOGA humanoid robot, Mornine, has become the world’s first dual-certified robot in the EU for both software and hardware. With over 300 units deployed globally, including South Africa, Chery is closing the loop between innovation and commercial application.

Looking Ahead

“As Chery reaches new milestones globally, South Africa continues to play a key role in that journey,” said Tony Liu, CEO of Chery South Africa. “Strong local demand and SA Car of the Year semi-finalist status for the Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 9 reflect the brand’s evolution toward more advanced, premium, and electrified mobility solutions.”

With record sales, technological breakthroughs, and strategic global expansion, Chery’s 2025 performance signals not just a year of achievements but the foundation for sustained growth and leadership in the global automotive landscape.
