Swansea, 27th November 2024 – Celtic Subaru, a well-established name in Swansea, has proudly supported the G&K Martial Arts Academy and Team Wales Kickboxing at the recent ICO World Championships held in Frankfurt, Germany. The sponsorship provided students with the opportunity to compete on the international stage, showcasing their talents and achieving extraordinary success.
Founded in 2007 by David Huxtable and his family, G&K Martial Arts Academy has become a pillar of the Swansea community, offering Kickboxing and Karate training for students of all ages. With a focus on building confidence, respect, discipline, teamwork, and self-defence skills, the academy creates an inclusive environment where individuals can thrive regardless of their abilities. It is also home to Team Wales Kickboxing and the Welsh Tatami Organisation, both of which have a long history of competing at the highest level.
A Partnership Built on Shared Values
David Huxtable, a long-time customer of Celtic Subaru, was thrilled to receive sponsorship support from the dealership for Team Wales’ trip to the ICO World Championships. The team’s success was underscored by the Celtic Subaru logo proudly displayed on their kits, symbolising the strong bond between the two entities.
The sponsorship came at a pivotal time as G&K Martial Arts Academy, along with 10 other Welsh clubs, formed Team Wales to compete at the world-renowned ICO World Championships. The team, which faced fierce competition from over 25 countries, including Germany, England, Ukraine, France, and South Africa, demonstrated remarkable skill, dedication, and sportsmanship. Team Wales finished in a prestigious 3rd place overall, with an outstanding 71 Gold, 92 Silver, and 50 Bronze medals—an achievement that speaks volumes about the calibre of athletes emerging from the academy.

Support for the Local Community
Tony Sciascia, Managing Director of Celtic Subaru, expressed his pride in supporting the team: “It is fantastic to be involved with David, G&K, and Team Wales Kickboxing. With community being of such importance to us as a dealership, it is great that we could support the team, who additionally compete on a national and international level. We are proud of the team for their latest achievements and can’t wait to see what happens next.”
The partnership between Celtic Subaru and G&K Martial Arts Academy highlights the importance of supporting local organisations and fostering a sense of community pride. For Celtic Subaru, this sponsorship is not just about logo placement, but about contributing to the success of young athletes and supporting their dreams on a global stage.
Looking Ahead to 2025
To further celebrate the success of Team Wales, it was announced during the ICO World Championships in Germany that the 2025 ICO World Championships will be held in Wales and hosted by David and the G&K team. This exciting opportunity will put Wales on the map as a premier destination for martial arts competition, and it’s a chance for Team Wales to showcase their abilities on home soil.
With the continued support of Celtic Subaru, the future looks bright for the G&K Martial Arts Academy and Team Wales Kickboxing. As they continue to grow and excel on the international stage, their shared values of discipline, focus, and integrity will no doubt lead them to even greater accomplishments in the years to come.
