In a remarkable tribute to one of the most iconic sports cars in automotive history, Jaguar Classic has unveiled two exclusive Series I Jaguar E-type Commemorative models. These stunning vehicles commemorate the end of E-type production 50 years ago, in 1974, and represent the pinnacle of British craftsmanship and design heritage.
A Legacy Reimagined
The two bespoke creations are not merely vehicles; they are collectible masterpieces, each meticulously crafted to celebrate the E-type’s storied legacy. With only two examples ever to leave the Jaguar Classic workshop, these cars are steeped in history, inspired by the final 50 Commemorative Editions produced five decades ago. Each model serves as a bridge between the past and present, marrying the original design with contemporary enhancements that reflect Jaguar’s commitment to excellence.
Lennard Hoornick, Chief Commercial Officer at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), articulates the philosophy behind this project: “With the E-type Commemorative, our Classic team set out to improve on an already near-perfect design. As the original creators of the E-type, we are uniquely positioned to subtly integrate both aesthetic and engineering enhancements borne out of decades of knowledge, skill, and passion.”
Exquisite Craftsmanship
Both E-type Commemorative vehicles are drophead coupes finished in unique one-of-one specifications. One is adorned in a sophisticated Signet Green, while the other dons an elegant Opal Black, both color palettes inspired by original hues from 1974. The exterior beauty is complemented by an equally stunning interior featuring Bridge of Weir tan leather seats, meticulously hand-woven and stitched in the Jaguar Classic trim shop. This bespoke approach combines traditional craftsmanship with a modern aesthetic, setting new standards for luxury.
The interior also features an anodised aluminium centre console, engraved with a genuine early Series I E-type blueprint sourced from Jaguar’s archives. This design element not only underscores the car’s heritage but also connects it to the art world; the blueprint was previously displayed at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

A Touch of Luxury
What truly sets the Jaguar Classic E-type Commemorative apart is the collaboration with Deakin & Francis, one of England’s oldest manufacturing jewellers, renowned for its craftsmanship since 1786. Each model is adorned with luxurious details, including mother of pearl inlays, hallmarked solid silver, and 18ct gold accents. The meticulous attention to detail extends to every aspect of the vehicle, with custom jewellery enhancing both the interior and exterior.
From the silver motif bar badge featuring guilloche mother of pearl to the sterling silver gear knob inlaid with mother of pearl and the 18ct gold Growler emblem, every element reflects an extraordinary level of artistry. Henry Deakin, Managing Director of Deakin & Francis, noted, “This partnership reinforces each brand’s commitment to superior quality and celebrates a shared passion for pushing boundaries in design and craftsmanship.”
Technical Excellence
Beneath the hood lies the renowned 3.8-litre engine, now enhanced with Electronic Fuel Injection and paired with a Jaguar Classic five-speed manual gearbox. This powerful combination ensures that the E-type Commemorative models not only exude elegance but also deliver exhilarating performance, maintaining the spirit of driving engagement for which the E-type is celebrated.
Modern comforts, including a discreet Jaguar Classic Bluetooth radio and a heated windscreen, make these vehicles perfectly suited for contemporary driving while preserving the authentic character of the original E-type.
The Jaguar Classic E-type Commemorative models represent a magnificent fusion of history, luxury, and performance. These two exclusive vehicles are not just cars; they are exquisite automotive gems that encapsulate the essence of British design and craftsmanship. As we celebrate 50 years since the end of E-type production, these bespoke creations honor the legacy of a timeless classic while paving the way for future generations of enthusiasts.
