Cape Town gears up for a weekend of racing excellence as the Southern African Endurance Series connected by Vodacom returns to the iconic Killarney Raceway for Round 3 on Saturday, 7 June 2025.

Motorsport enthusiasts in the Western Cape are in for a high-octane feast this weekend, as Killarney Raceway plays host to the Southern African Endurance Series (SAES) connected by Vodacom 4U — with the flagship Six-Hours of Killarney headlining a packed schedule of support races. Over 67 cars and motorcycles are set to roar onto the circuit, delivering non-stop action in the GT Cup SA, SA Super GT Trophy, and MRSSA Motorcycle Series.

Porsche Power: GT Cup SA Rumbles Into Killarney

Leading the charge in the all-Porsche GT Cup SA is the imperious Charl Arangies. Piloting the Stradale Motorsport 911 GT3 R, Arangies arrives in Cape Town with a flawless record — six wins from six starts and a commanding 152-point lead in the championship.

Behind him, the battle is heating up. Nicky Dicks (Curvent GT3 Cup) and Mo Mia (991.2 GT3 Cup) are locked in a tie for second, just 20 points adrift. With Roy Obery absent, Sun Moodley (Bigfoot Express GT3 Cup) is well-positioned to gain ground, but he’ll need to keep an eye on Stradale teammates Jay Jay Deysel and Arnold Neveling, as well as Andre van Vuuren in the older Type 996.

Also worth watching are G&H Racing stalwart Jimmy Giannoccaro, Deven Pillay, and Divan Wentzel, with seasoned Porsche racers Maarten Prins and Richard de Roos rounding out a formidable grid.

GT Cup Qualifying: Friday at 12h40
Race 1: Friday at 15h40
Races 2 & 3: Saturday at 08h15 and 11h35

Supercars and Sports Prototypes: SA GT Super Trophy Ignites

The SA GT Super Trophy grid boasts a thrilling mix of pure-bred supercars and sports prototypes. Championship leader Andrew Horne (Ligier-Honda JS49) may have a sizeable 74-point cushion, but he’ll be under intense pressure from Samlin Racing’s Damian Hammond. Hammond’s triple triumph at Aldo Scribante has established him as a serious threat in his Lamborghini Super Trofeo Evo.

Adding further spice are Sam Hammond and Wayne Roach in their Huracan and Gallardo entries, while Xolile Letlaka’s Huracan GT3 Evo and Gianni Giannoccaro’s Nissan GT-R Nismo promise firepower at the front.

Local hero Marcel Angel (Ferrari 488 GT3) and Dawie Joubert (VW Golf-powered Lotus) will look to keep Cape Town pride intact. The field also features an eclectic mix: Nissan 350Zs, a Mazda RX8, Porsche 924 Turbo, a Swift Nardine sports car, and the rare Toyota 200 Elf S06.

Super GT Qualifying: Friday at 11h40
Race 1: Friday at 15h15
Races 2 & 3: Saturday at 08h35 and 10h40

Two-Wheel Thunder: MRSSA Motorcycles Hit the Track

The Motorcycle Racing Series South Africa (MRSSA) brings its signature mix of top-tier speed and edge-of-your-seat drama across multiple categories.

In the Senior SBK division, the absence of reigning champion Adolf Boshoff opens the door for BMW-mounted Damion Purificati and Honda rider Tristan Pienaar to close the gap. Peron Parasaramen and Yamaha’s Ora Phiri (600cc) are ready to pounce, with strong contenders Troy Tonkin and Ryan Van Nieuwkerk also in the mix.

The Battle of the Twins (BOTTS V4) is a Ducati-dominated affair, with Leon Horn leading Alan Hulscher and Mick Landi, while the Masters Class sees Jaco Gouws (Suzuki GSXR) fending off BMW’s Robert Ferreira and Kawasaki’s Ryan Futter.

In Club SBK, Clive Turnbull holds a massive 48-point advantage, but riders like Yaghya Sahabodien, Martyn Parry, and Nkululeko Majola will be pushing hard to close the gap.

The Unlimited 1000 and Classic classes are equally compelling. Siya Shabalala (Yamaha YZF R1) heads a tightly packed field, while in Classics, Fergal McAdam (Honda VTR 1000) leads the charge with Suzuki riders Wessel Kruger and Johan Kosterman hot on his heels.

Club SBK Qualifying: Friday at 12h00 | Race 1: Friday at 14h25 | Race 2: Saturday at 12h05
Senior SBK Qualifying: Friday at 12h20 | Race 1: Friday at 14h50 | Race 2: Saturday at 11h10
