BYD, the global leader in new energy vehicles, has introduced its latest innovation—the BYD EYT 2.0 Electric Yard Tractor—at IAA Transportation 2024. Engineered specifically for the European market, this next-generation vehicle promises to transform operational productivity in key industries such as ports, terminals, and logistics hubs. Designed with advanced electric solutions and enhanced features, the BYD EYT 2.0 is set to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly and efficient transport options.
A Powerhouse of Performance and Efficiency
The BYD EYT 2.0 Electric Yard Tractor is powered by BYD’s cutting-edge Blade Battery technology, ensuring superior safety, energy efficiency, and durability. The 216.7kWh battery offers up to 16 hours of working time, with the convenience of quick charging, taking just one hour to go from 20% to 80%. This level of energy efficiency allows for continuous operations, maximising productivity in demanding environments. With an impressive 260kW motor output, the EYT 2.0 is more than capable of towing substantial loads, offering a Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of up to 75 tonnes and towing capacity of up to 64.8 tonnes.
BYD’s Blade Battery, known for its remarkable thermal stability and resistance to rigorous testing, such as the Nail Penetration Test, is cobalt-free, using Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) as its cathode material. This delivers an unmatched level of safety, setting the BYD EYT 2.0 apart from conventional lithium-ion battery-powered vehicles.
Strength Meets Modern Design
Beyond its technical prowess, the BYD EYT 2.0 showcases a modern, eco-conscious design. The exterior styling reflects BYD’s new energy philosophy, with its distinctive X design front face, a robust grille, and bold air intake vents. Its two-tone body and dynamic front bumper add a sense of sophistication to this hardworking vehicle, combining practicality with a sleek aesthetic.
Built on a high-strength rigid frame, the BYD EYT 2.0 has been designed for demanding tasks. With integrated bridge technology and a 5th lifting wheel mechanism, it offers smooth and stable operations even with heavy loads. The ease of coupling and decoupling enhances operational efficiency, making it an ideal choice for industries requiring quick hook-ups in high-traffic environments.

Enhancing Driver Comfort and Safety
Driver experience and safety are central to the BYD EYT 2.0’s design. The spacious, insulated cab reduces noise levels, while air suspension in the rear ensures minimal vibrations, offering a more comfortable ride. With an inner height of 1.9 metres, drivers can stand upright, and the adjustable heated seats further contribute to an ergonomic and pleasant driving experience. The inclusion of air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, and a DAB radio enhances the cabin’s comfort.
In terms of safety, the BYD EYT 2.0 excels with features like Electronic Brake System (EBS), Traction Control, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ensuring stable and secure driving across different terrains. The cab meets rigorous safety standards, including R29, ROPS, and FOPS regulations, and includes a sliding rear door that functions as an emergency exit. Additionally, driver assistance systems such as tyre pressure monitoring, reversing sensors, and a VDO Tachograph provide further reassurance.
Built for All Environments
Designed for versatility, the BYD EYT 2.0 performs in diverse climatic conditions, from -20°C to 50°C, and boasts a vehicle life expectancy of over ten years. This durability makes it a practical, long-term solution for a wide range of operational needs, particularly in ports, terminals, and logistics centres that require reliable performance in varying environments.
The BYD EYT 2.0’s ability to seamlessly combine strength, efficiency, and safety, while embodying BYD’s commitment to innovation, marks a significant step forward in the shift toward greener industrial solutions. As Europe continues to transition to sustainable technologies, BYD’s EYT 2.0 is set to play a key role in reshaping the future of logistics and distribution.
