BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of New-Energy Vehicles (NEVs), has revealed pricing and specifications for the 2026 SEAL, continuing to set the benchmark for electric vehicles in its class. The updated model builds on the design, technology and practicality of the current SEAL, while retaining the same starting on-the-road price of £45,730, making it a compelling proposition for UK buyers.

Subtle Design Evolution Enhances Practicality

For 2026, the SEAL receives a series of refinements that enhance both style and versatility. The new 19-inch wheels give the car a more assertive stance, while three additional exterior colours – Ruby Red, Obsidian Black and Lavender Grey – join Polar White, Indigo Grey and Atlantis Grey, expanding personalisation options. At the rear, the BYD logo is now centrally positioned above the full-width LED light bar, with the SEAL designation neatly placed at the bottom right of the boot lid.

Inside, the cabin has been subtly refreshed. Nappa leather seats retain their premium finish, while headrests now feature a clean, unbranded design. The centre armrest no longer displays the NFC logo, but the functionality remains. Storage capacity has been further optimised: the boot grows from 400 to 485 litres and now includes tethering hooks for securing loose items. Under the bonnet, the redesigned front storage area increases to 72 litres, providing ample space for charging cables or a carry-on suitcase.

Advanced Technology and Safety Features

The 2026 SEAL takes on-board technology to a new level. A newly added Driver Monitoring System keeps an eye on driver attention, meeting the latest safety standards. A Bluetooth™ key enables convenient smartphone-based keyless entry, while the standard equipment remains generous.

The Design trim features LED headlights with High Beam Assistant, a panoramic glass roof, a 12-speaker Dynaudio® sound system, two 15W wireless charging trays, heated and ventilated electrically adjustable front seats, and a 15.6-inch high-definition touchscreen. The Excellence trim adds a head-up display, enhancing safety and convenience further.

Impressive Performance and Long Range

Performance continues to impress, with the Excellence trim employing a two-motor all-wheel-drive setup that produces 523bhp and 670Nm of torque, achieving 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds. Semi-adaptive suspension with variable frequency dampers ensures precise handling.

The Design trim features a single-motor rear-wheel-drive layout with 308bhp and 360Nm of torque, reaching 62mph in 5.9 seconds. Both models are electronically limited to 112mph.

Range is a strong suit, with BYD’s cobalt-free Lithium Iron-Phosphate (LFP) blade battery delivering 354 miles WLTP in the Design and 323 miles in the Excellence. Fast charging at 150kW allows a 10%-80% recharge in just 37 minutes.

Competitive Pricing and Industry-Leading Warranty

Starting at £45,730 for the Design and £48,730 for the Excellence, the 2026 SEAL offers exceptional value, maintaining its previous price points despite significant upgrades. Every vehicle comes with BYD’s six-year, 93,750-mile warranty, and the battery is covered for up to eight years or 155,350 miles, ensuring peace of mind for buyers.

With enhanced practicality, advanced technology, impressive performance and a strong warranty package, the 2026 BYD SEAL strengthens its position as one of the most desirable electric vehicles in the UK market. Orders are now open through local retailers.
