BYD and its premium brand DENZA are set to make a strong impression at the 2026 Goodwood Media Drive Day on 17 March, presenting an electrified line-up that highlights the group’s rapidly expanding portfolio of new energy vehicles. Held at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit, the annual event offers influential media and content creators the opportunity to sample some of the most significant new vehicles entering the market.
Visitors will be able to drive four BYD models on public roads surrounding the circuit, showcasing both fully electric and plug-in hybrid technologies. The line-up includes two of the brand’s latest introductions, the SEALION 5 DM-i and SEAL 6 Touring DM-i, alongside the fully electric DOLPHIN SURF and the performance-oriented SEAL saloon.
Representing BYD’s growing electric vehicle family, the compact DOLPHIN SURF serves as the entry point into the brand’s range. Priced from £18,675, the city-focused EV will be available in BOOST trim and features a 43.2kWh battery capable of delivering a WLTP range of up to 200 miles. Despite its accessible positioning, the model reflects the brand’s commitment to efficient electric mobility combined with everyday usability.
Positioned further up the range, the SEAL saloon demonstrates BYD’s performance credentials within the EV space. The model appearing at Goodwood will be the range-topping EXCELLENCE variant, equipped with a dual-motor powertrain capable of accelerating from 0 to 62mph in just 3.8 seconds, while maintaining the smooth and refined driving characteristics expected from a modern electric executive saloon.
Alongside the pure-electric models, BYD will also showcase its advanced DM-i plug-in hybrid technology through the new SEALION 5 and SEAL 6 Touring. The SEALION 5 enters the highly competitive family SUV segment with a starting price of £29,995, bringing plug-in hybrid capability to a price point comparable with many conventional petrol-powered rivals.
The SEAL 6 range, offered in both Saloon and Touring body styles, emphasises long-distance efficiency with a combined WLTP range of up to 935 miles. Both vehicles pair an electric motor with BYD’s 1.5-litre Xiaoyun petrol engine, which achieves a class-leading thermal efficiency of 43.04 percent, allowing the DM-i system to deliver impressive range and fuel efficiency without compromising everyday practicality.
While BYD takes to the surrounding roads, DENZA will demonstrate its capabilities on the famous Goodwood Motor Circuit itself. Ahead of the brand’s official UK launch later this year, invited guests will have the opportunity to experience two of the models destined for the British market during track-only driving sessions.
Among them is the striking Z9GT, a four-door grand tourer that captured attention during its debut at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Combining distinctive design with a sophisticated three-motor plug-in hybrid powertrain, the Z9GT represents DENZA’s approach to blending high performance with advanced electrified technology.
Joining it on track is the rugged B5 SUV, developed with adventure and off-road capability in mind. Equipped with the brand’s Dual-Mode Off-road (DMO) powertrain, the B5 delivers a formidable total output of 677bhp, highlighting DENZA’s ability to combine electrification with serious performance credentials.
Together, the BYD and DENZA displays at Goodwood underline the group’s broader strategy of offering a diverse range of electrified vehicles across multiple segments. From accessible city-focused EVs to high-performance hybrids and premium SUVs, the line-up provides a clear demonstration of the technological depth and ambition driving the brands’ global expansion.
