Grosse Pointe, Michigan (March 10, 2025) – Broad Arrow Auctions, a Hagerty (NYSE: HGTY) company, achieved resounding success at its third annual Amelia Auction, held on March 7–8 as the official auction of The Amelia Concours d’Elegance. The event generated a remarkable $61.7 million in total sales, with an impressive 88 percent of all lots sold.
The auction, hosted at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, drew a record-high number of registered bidders—22 percent more than the previous year’s event—while also reaching a global audience through live streaming on Broad Arrow’s YouTube channel, Hagerty’s Samsung TV Plus, and its newly launched Tubi channels.
Auction Highlights and Top Sales
Topping the sales chart was a Ferrari Classiche-certified 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione (chassis 1451 GT), which achieved a stunning $9,465,000. The second of only eight aluminum-bodied California Spider Competiziones ever built, this historic model secured fifth overall at the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans under the ownership of Bob Grossman. The car, equipped with a factory competition-specification outside-plug Type 128 F engine, saw an intense bidding war before selling to a telephone bidder.
“The success of our third Amelia Auction is a testament to the exceptional quality of our consignments and the continued enthusiasm of the collector car community,” said Barney Ruprecht, Senior Car Specialist and Vice-President of Auctions at Broad Arrow. “With strong bidding across all categories, the sale of the California Spider marks a new milestone as the most valuable car Broad Arrow has ever sold.”
In addition to the headline Ferrari sale, several other automotive icons commanded impressive figures. A striking Arancia Orange 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV drew considerable attention before fetching $4,460,000, making it the second most valuable Miura ever sold at auction. A 1954 Jaguar D-Type “OKV 2” Works Competition car also reached $4,295,000, further cementing the strength of the classic and competition car market.
