BMW is continuing its streak of industry acclaim with a strong showing across multiple prestigious UK award ceremonies in May 2025. The marque added three new trophies to its cabinet – being named Electric Car Brand of the Year at the Which? Awards, seeing the BMW i5 Touring crowned Best EV Estate at the Top Gear Electric Awards, and having the BMW 7 Series declared Best Fleet Luxury Car at the Great British Fleet Awards. Meanwhile, MINI customers can now enjoy added versatility thanks to a newly introduced towbar for the MINI Aceman, capable of supporting up to 750 kg.

BMW Named Electric Car Brand of the Year at the Which? Awards 2025

Recognised for excellence in reliability, innovation, and customer satisfaction, BMW took home one of the top honours at the 2025 Which? Awards. The organisation praised BMW’s dedication to building safe, efficient and technologically advanced electric vehicles – a reflection of feedback from owners and the brand’s continued evolution in the EV space.

“This Electric Car Brand of the Year award is especially meaningful given how competitive the EV market is right now,” said Paul Kester, Head of Product and Market Planning for BMW Group UK. “It’s a big year ahead for BMW with the world premiere of our first next-generation electric vehicle this September. We hope to be back on stage again next year following its launch.”

Since their inception in 2007, the Which? Awards have become a hallmark of trust, honouring companies that go above and beyond in delivering exceptional products and services to UK consumers.

BMW i5 Touring Named Best EV Estate at Top Gear Electric Awards

The BMW i5 Touring has earned the title of Best EV Estate at the Top Gear Electric Awards 2025, marking the 25th accolade for the eighth-generation 5 Series. A testament to BMW’s ability to blend practicality, elegance, and performance in the electric era, the i5 Touring sets a benchmark in the premium estate segment.

Jack Rix, Top Gear’s Editor in Chief, lauded the i5 Touring for its comprehensive excellence:

“The enormous breadth of smug ability served up by BMW’s vast i5 Touring means the rest frankly needn’t have bothered…”

Offering generous luggage space, state-of-the-art driver tech, and the dynamic feel long associated with the brand, the i5 Touring represents the future of premium family motoring.

BMW 7 Series Secures Best Fleet Luxury Car at The Great British Fleet Awards

BMW’s flagship saloon, the 7 Series, triumphed in the Best Fleet Luxury Car category at the Great British Fleet Awards 2025, judged by the expert editorial team at Fleet World. Celebrated for its blend of opulence, innovation, and driving refinement, the 7 Series continues to redefine executive mobility.

A stalwart of the BMW lineup for decades, the 7 Series grows in stature, performance and quality throughout,” said John Challen, Editor at Fleet World. “In the back, it feels like you are being transported in a private jet, while behind the wheel, there’s an engaging driver experience, large, clear screens and a level of quality that is on a par with other cars with a much higher price tag.

Since its 2022 launch, the current-generation 7 Series has delivered a revolutionary luxury experience, available with both hybrid and fully electric powertrains to cater to a broad spectrum of corporate and private clients alike.

MINI Aceman Adds Practical Towbar Option for SE and JCW Models

Not to be left out of the May headlines, MINI has announced a practical enhancement for the new MINI Aceman lineup. Customers can now specify a factory-fitted towbar option capable of towing up to 750 kg, perfect for small trailers, camping gear or bike carriers. This new feature is available for both the MINI Aceman SE and the performance-oriented MINI John Cooper Works Aceman.

The update reflects MINI’s ongoing commitment to expanding the functionality of its electrified range, ensuring customers enjoy not just style and performance, but day-to-day practicality as well.

BMW Group UK’s standout performance this May underscores the company’s formidable presence in the premium automotive landscape – from electrification and luxury to everyday usability. As the brand prepares to unveil its next-generation EV this September, this series of accolades offers a promising glimpse into BMW and MINI’s ongoing commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and driving excellence.
