Munich – BMW M GmbH has once again proven its dominance in the high-performance automotive segment, posting record sales for the 14th consecutive year and outperforming competitors for the seventh year in a row. In 2025, BMW M GmbH delivered 213,457 vehicles worldwide, up three percent from 206,582 in 2024, marking yet another milestone in the brand’s storied history of performance excellence.
“Achieving our 14th consecutive sales record validates our strategy,” said Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH. “We will continue to offer performance and high-performance vehicles across the entire BMW model range, with fully electric, partly electric, and all-ICE powertrains.”
High-Performance Executive Models Drive Growth
At the heart of BMW M GmbH’s success are its high-performance models, which seamlessly blend racetrack capability with everyday usability. The BMW M5 Sedan and M5 Touring were standout performers in their first full year on the market. Both models feature a model-specific M HYBRID system delivering a peak output of 535 kW/727 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, combining a high-revving V8 engine with an electric motor and M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The M5 Touring earned a “Golden Steering Wheel” award, securing top marks across all driving disciplines, efficiency, and value for money.
Meanwhile, the BMW M2 Coupé emerged as the best-selling high-performance vehicle of 2025. Available with a manual transmission and as the track-focused M2 CS, the model delivers 390 kW/530 hp and recently set a Nürburgring record of 7:25.5 minutes, underscoring its status as a favorite among driving enthusiasts.
The BMW M3 Family: A Consistent Fan Favorite
The BMW M3 models continued to captivate performance enthusiasts, with a broad range of variants including sedans and Touring versions. The entry-level M3, offering a six-speed manual transmission and 353 kW/480 hp, remains a purist’s choice. The new M3 CS Touring, with 405 kW/551 hp, further reinforces the series’ sporting pedigree. Collectively, the M3 family contributed significantly to BMW M GmbH’s record of nearly 71,500 high-performance vehicles sold.
BMW X3 M50 Tops Sales
Among the broader M Performance range, the BMW X3 M50 was the best-selling model of 2025. Its 48-volt mild-hybrid system and M TwinPower Turbo engine deliver 293 kW/398 hp, making it a top performer in the premium mid-size SAV segment. Its success overtook the previous electric leader, the BMW i4 M60 Gran Coupé, highlighting the growing appeal of M Performance vehicles across diverse powertrain technologies.
Nearly one in ten BMWs sold globally was an M model, with a sales share of 9.8 percent—a new record. Switzerland emerged as a particularly strong market, where nearly one in four BMWs ordered was an M model.
Global Leadership and Strategic Expansion
BMW M GmbH models led sales in key markets, including the U.S., Germany, Canada, Korea, South Africa, and the U.K., while China saw the largest absolute sales increase. The company’s success stems from a comprehensive portfolio spanning ICE, plug-in hybrid, and all-electric vehicles, with future momentum expected from Neue Klasse-based models.
Motorsport Remains Core to the Brand
Motorsport continues to be a cornerstone for BMW M GmbH. The BMW M Motorsport fleet—including the M Hybrid V8, M4 GT3 EVO, and M4 GT4 EVO—secured over 180 victories in 2025. Highlights included a 1-2 finish at Road America, triumphs at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Suzuka 1000, and Indianapolis 8 Hour races, alongside customer racing successes in GT4 America and the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie.
Sustainable Success
BMW M GmbH’s growth is underpinned by the BMW Group’s broader commitment to sustainability, responsible action, and long-term strategy. The company’s approach spans the entire lifecycle of its vehicles, from supply chain and production to end-of-life solutions, ensuring that performance and responsibility go hand in hand.
With a combination of electrified innovation, high-performance engineering, and motorsport prowess, BMW M GmbH continues to redefine what it means to be a leader in the performance automotive segment—solidifying 2025 as a year of record-breaking achievements and unprecedented milestones.
