Munich – At CES 2026, BMW has placed the spotlight firmly on the new BMW iX3, showcasing a suite of cutting-edge technologies that set a new benchmark for electric mobility and in-car intelligence. Central to the debut is the first-time public demonstration of the AI-powered BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with Alexa+ technology, marking a leap forward in natural, intuitive interaction between driver, passengers, and vehicle.
Built on the foundation of BMW Operating System X and the revolutionary Panoramic iDrive, the iX3 combines digital and physical controls in a seamless interface, guided by BMW’s philosophy: Hands on the Wheel, Eyes on the Road. With Alexa+ integration, users can now ask multiple questions in a single sentence, spanning vehicle operations and general knowledge, with responses generated by advanced large language model AI. This next-generation assistant will gradually roll out across all BMW models equipped with OS 9 and X from mid-2026 in Germany and the USA.
The iX3 also elevates the in-car entertainment experience. BMW Operating System X offers a continuously expanding ecosystem of apps, games, and streaming services. Highlights include Disney+, YouTube Music, TiVo-powered Video App, Zoom video calls, and interactive gaming via AirConsole, featuring exclusive titles like Hot Wheels: Xtreme Overdrive™ and classics such as UNO®️ Car Party!. Passengers can enjoy entertainment while stationary, with a smooth transition to audio when driving begins.
On the performance front, the iX3 introduces sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology. Two high-efficiency electric motors deliver 345 kW (469 hp) and 645 Nm of torque, accelerating the SUV from 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Combined with a new high-voltage battery featuring cylindrical cells, the iX3 achieves up to 805 km (500 miles) of WLTP range, faster charging, and reduced energy losses and weight. The vehicle supports 800V DC rapid charging, adding 372 km (231 miles) of range in just 10 minutes, and offers bidirectional capabilities for Vehicle-to-Load, Vehicle-to-Home, and Vehicle-to-Grid applications.
Driving dynamics reach new heights with BMW’s Heart of Joy, a high-performance control unit responsible for instant power delivery, steering, braking, and energy recuperation. Complementing this is BMW Symbiotic Drive, merging driver input with AI-assisted control to create a seamless, intuitive driving experience. Level 2 driver assistance, including hands-off operation up to 130 km/h, automated lane changes, and city-focused features like traffic light stops and starts, showcase BMW’s commitment to next-level safety and convenience.
The BMW iX3 represents more than just a vehicle—it’s a window into the future of BMW’s Neue Klasse, with technologies that will be rolled out across 40 new models and updates by 2027. From intelligent AI assistance and immersive entertainment to groundbreaking electric drive and driving dynamics, the iX3 defines the next chapter of Sheer Driving Pleasure.
