BMW Group UK enters autumn on a high, having recently collected a series of accolades that underscore its continued leadership across electric, hybrid, and towing segments. The latest recognition comes from the What Car? Electric Car Awards 2025 and the annual Towcar of the Year Awards, complemented by MINI’s launch of the striking new Countryman E Monochrome.
BMW Shines at the What Car? Electric Car Awards 2025
At the 2025 What Car? Electric Car Awards, BMW Group secured four category wins, celebrating excellence in innovation, performance, and sustainability across its electric and hybrid portfolio. Leading the charge, the BMW i7 retained its title as Best Electric Luxury Car for the third consecutive year. What Car? Editor Steve Huntingford remarked that BMW continues to “set the standard” for electric luxury cars, highlighting the i7’s “incredible comfort”, “beautiful” finish, advanced technology—including a “fabulous 8K cinema screen”—and its “uncanny ability to shut out unwanted noise.”
Hybrid models also impressed the judges. The BMW 330e earned Best Used Hybrid Executive Car for its “low running costs”, driver appeal, and “plush interior.” Meanwhile, the BMW 530e claimed Best Used Hybrid Estate, offering unmatched space, quality, and efficiency. Rounding out BMW’s awards haul, the MINI Cooper SE Countryman ALL4 was recognised as Best Used Hybrid Small SUV, boasting impressive reliability—scoring 99.7% in the What Car? Reliability Survey—and class-leading refinement.
BMW iX and X3 Commended at Towcar of the Year Awards
BMW’s momentum continued at the Towcar of the Year Awards, hosted by the Caravan and Motorhome Club. Models are evaluated across a rigorous four-day testing programme at Millbrook Proving Ground, with judges assessing practicality, innovation, driving experience, and towing capability.
The recently updated BMW iX secured two accolades, taking the Caravan Weight over 2,000kg and Electric Towcar categories. Judges praised its adaptive air suspension, which “keeps everything stable, composed and level when hitched,” while regenerative braking offered precise control on descents.
The BMW X3 M50 xDrive also impressed, winning the Caravan Weight 1700–1800kg category. The panel highlighted the M Performance model’s “quality feel” while towing, noting its stability, secure handling, and confidence-inspiring braking. Driving dynamics were equally lauded, with judges describing it as “a really fun car to drive” and praising its class-leading acceleration performance.

MINI Expands Its Lineup with the Countryman E Monochrome
Complementing BMW Group’s award successes, MINI introduces the new Countryman E Monochrome. This special edition marks the third model in the Monochrome range, joining the MINI Cooper Electric Monochrome and the MINI Aceman Monochrome launched earlier this year.
Offered in a fixed specification, the Countryman E Monochrome is available in Midnight Black or Nanuq White and comes with enhanced standard equipment, including MINI Navigation with Head-Up Display, wireless charging, LED headlights, and black 18-inch Asteroid Spoke alloy wheels. The body-coloured roof completes the seamless, contemporary design.
Inside, an Anthracite headliner complements a model-exclusive multitone fabric interior, with white and yellow stitching on the front and rear seats adding a distinctive touch. The Countryman E Monochrome is powered by a 64.6 kWh battery, capable of charging from 10–80% in just 29 minutes using a 130 kW DC charger. Priced from £32,595 OTR, deliveries are set to begin in January 2026.
Looking Ahead
BMW Group UK’s recent awards underscore its commitment to delivering vehicles that combine cutting-edge technology, sustainable efficiency, and driving pleasure. From luxury electric saloons to versatile hybrids and capable towcars, the marque continues to demonstrate breadth, performance, and appeal across the spectrum. Meanwhile, MINI’s stylish Countryman E Monochrome enhances the brand’s growing electric and hybrid family, offering customers a refined, high-spec option for 2026.
