New and future vehicle technologies, including BMW’s i concept, Vauxhall’s Ampera E-REV and Volvo’s XC60 plug-in hybrid, will be among the topics of discussion at the EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show on April 18 at the world-famous Silverstone motor racing circuit.
The different technologies will give visitors a unique insight into the future drive train strategies of leading motor manufacturers, and are in addition to the pure electric vehicle ranges that some manufacturers, such as Peugeot, Citroen, Renault and Nissan, will have on show, emphasising the point that the event is aimed at all low carbon technologies, not just electric power.
Ross Durkin, managing editor of organisers, Fleet World, said: “Motor manufacturers around the world have fully embraced the need to offer low emission vehicles, although at present there is no single technology that dominates the market. The EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show is as much about understanding the strategies being adopted by the different motor manufacturers, as it is about experiencing the products available today.
“Individual company car drivers will make a decision on their requirements at a given point in time. However, our audience of senior-level fleet decision makers is more involved in strategic planning on a pan-organisational level and their requirement is for a thorough understanding of how changes in motor manufacturers’ strategy might affect their own fleet operation.
“It is our intention to provide visitors to the show with the opportunity to experience current products, learn from the manufacturers what they are planning, and to hear from independent experts what they think the future holds for fleets.”
Already around 500 senior fleet decision makers have registered to attend the event and others thinking about attending are urged to submit their registrations as soon as possible to avoid being disappointed.
The EV & Low CO2 Fleet Show is being sponsored by the Energy Saving Trust in association with the British Vehicle Rental & Leasing Association, the trade association of the UK’s leasing and rental industries, and takes place at the Silverstone racing circuit in Northamptonshire, where a wide range of electric, hybrid and other low-carbon vehicles will be available for driving around the famous track.
The show will be based in the new state-of-the-art Silverstone Wing conference and event facility, situated in the heart of the Grand Prix Circuit, and boasting two exhibition halls, a conference hall, banqueting facilities and the latest technical and AV equipment.

Test drive the latest petrol-electric hybrids, diesel-electric hybrids, fuel-cell hybrids and electric range-extenders, as well as the latest low-emission petrol and diesel engine vehicles

The day will also include an interesting and informative seminar session presented by leading academics and top company executives. Full details will be announced nearer the event.
There will also be a Question Time-style debate and panel discussion chaired by BVRLA Chief Executive, John Lewis, at which fleet decision makers can discuss some of the topics presented earlier in the day.
All test-driving of electric, hybrid and other low-CO2 vehicles will include two or three laps of the Stowe Circuit, a separate infield circuit with its own facilities, and there will be provision for visitors to book provisional test drives in advance directly with the relevant motor manufacturer.
