Bentley Motors, a renowned British automotive brand, has announced its collaboration with everwave and other environmental foundations to tackle river pollution in Thailand. This initiative, supported by the recently formed Bentley Environmental Foundation, aims to remove harmful plastic waste from major waterways and develop robust waste management systems.
The Bentley Environmental Foundation, which was launched last year as part of Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy, is partnering with the Audi Environmental Foundation and the Ferry Porsche Foundation in this significant environmental effort. The project focuses on the Chao Phraya River, aiming to clear it of plastic debris using advanced technology, including AI-equipped refuse-collecting boats, drones, and cameras, operated by everwave. This high-tech approach allows for the monthly removal of approximately 20 tons of trash.
In addition to cleaning efforts, the initiative includes an innovative educational program in Bangkok schools. This program engages students in practical sustainability activities, such as canal clean-ups and the establishment of school recycling systems. The educational campaign is designed to instill a deep understanding of environmental challenges and the importance of ocean conservation.

Clemens Feigl, CEO of everwave, highlighted the project’s potential impact, noting that if successful, the Chao Phraya could become waste-free within two decades. The initiative also benefits from the support of local NGOs like the TerraCycle Global Foundation, which assists in waste sorting and further processing.
Wayne Bruce, Chief Communications and DEI Officer at Bentley Motors, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, emphasizing the collaborative efforts to prevent waste from reaching oceans and preserving aquatic ecosystems. Bruce stated that the partnership underscores a shared commitment to combating plastic pollution and promoting sustainable practices among future generations.
Through this project, Bentley and its partners are dedicated to reducing environmental impacts and encouraging young individuals to actively participate in sustainability, fostering a lasting appreciation for environmental stewardship.
