Johannesburg, South Africa – November 2025 – BAIC South Africa has officially handed over a fleet of 20 premium SUVs to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) in preparation for the G20 Summit hosted in South Africa. The fleet, comprising the BAIC X55 Plus and the newly launched B30 SUV, will facilitate the seamless transport of delegates and officials, reflecting BAIC’s growing role in shaping South Africa’s mobility landscape.
Locally Built Excellence: The B30 Leads the Way
Among the vehicles handed over, the BAIC B30 stands out as a symbol of local innovation. Assembled at BAIC South Africa’s advanced manufacturing plant in Gqeberha alongside the X55 Plus, the B30 represents a significant milestone in the brand’s localisation journey. Developed in collaboration with the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), the Coega facility ranks among South Africa’s largest automotive assembly operations.

Following its recent national launch, the B30 further solidifies BAIC’s commitment to producing vehicles “built in South Africa, for South Africa,” while positioning the plant as a potential export hub for the African continent in the future.
