Aythorpe Promotions Limited (APL) has announced its acquisition of Motor Racing Legends (MRL), a premier promoter of historic motor racing. This strategic move includes iconic events like the Silverstone Festival, Spa Six Hours, and Oulton Park Gold Cup, alongside the acquisition of the Donington Historic Festival scheduled for this weekend, May 4-5, at Donington Park.
Led by Shaun Lynn, a prominent figure in the UK’s historic racing scene and a noted car collector, Aythorpe Promotions aims to build on the solid foundation established by MRL over the past two decades. “Taking over Motor Racing Legends is a privilege. Duncan Wiltshire and his team have created a remarkable series featuring Europe’s finest grids of touring, sports, and pre-war cars,” Lynn commented. He expressed enthusiasm about continuing this legacy and is excited about the forthcoming collaboration, especially since Wiltshire will stay on as the leader of MRL until the end of 2024.

Duncan Wiltshire, the founder of Motor Racing Legends, shared his excitement about the acquisition. “It’s reassuring to know that with Shaun Lynn and his team, the future of MRL is secure. Their passion for historic motorsport is evident, and we are eager to see what the 2024 season brings,” he stated.
The 2024 season kicks off with the Donington Historic Festival, featuring a lineup of races such as the Pre ’63 GT, Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy, Stirling Moss Trophy, and the Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall Cup 3-Hour Pre ’66 Endurance Race. Additional competitions will include events from the HRDC like the Jack Sears, Gerry Marshall, and Dunlop Allstars trophies, as well as the Superformance Ferrari Club Classic. Tickets for the event are available for purchase online or at the festival gates.
