What makes this innovative rack possible, he says, is the absence of a traditional exhaust system in EVs, creating a new opportunity for utilising the available space at the rear of the vehicle.
This sophisticated bike rack has been in development for over eight years, with numerous design iterations to perfect its functionality. The result is a patent-pending mechanism that not only folds into a compact compartment at the back of the car but is also capable of supporting heavier electric bikes, which typically have additional weight due to their motors and batteries.
One of the key features of the Auxtail bike rack is its ease of use. With a simple handle pull and latch disengagement, the rack automatically extends and locks into place. The pivoting arms secure up to two bikes effortlessly. Once the journey is complete, the rack retracts smoothly, thanks to an automatic locking system that ensures everything is stowed safely and securely.
While the base model of the rack is designed for two bikes, Auxtail offers extension pieces that allow up to four bikes to be carried. And this is just the beginning: the company is developing additional accessories, including a cargo box, to further enhance the versatility of the rack.
