The authorised Chevrolet and Isuzu dealer Autoworld has unveiled the new Chevrolet Sonic and Chevrolet Utility at the prestigious Zimbabwe Motor Show, which made a comeback last year after a 10-year hiatus.
Autoworld is a true Zimbabwean dealership, having established itself in Harare in 2003 with the opening of the Chisipite showroom, and has a dedicated service centre in Bluffhill. The company also has a second dealership in Bulawayo, which it opened in 2008.
Autoworld has won the GM South East Africa sub region Exporter of the Year title for seven years in a row and has a strong focus on aftersales support and servicing of vehicles.
Exports Director for General Motors Sub-Saharan Africa and Managing Director of General Motors East Africa Operations, Rita Kavashe, said the two new Chevrolet products were a great addition to the dealership’s product line-up.
“The Chevrolet product line-up is becoming much more appealing as the company has introduced a range of latest generation products to the market,” she said.
Kavashe said the Sonic has drawn on the extensive Chevrolet global design, engineering and manufacturing resources to realise a vehicle that will compete as a best-in class-offering with regard to exterior styling, interior design and functionality, ride and handling, powertrain performance and quality execution.
“It also comes with fully loaded interior specifications and an impressive array of active and passive safety features,” she said.
The Sonic boasts a sporty and youthful exterior appearance with an interior theme of sporty sophistication. Latest generation power plants from Chevrolet provide for a fun and fuel-efficient driving experience with refined ride and handling characteristics to complement the sporty nature of this exciting new small Chevrolet.
Kavashe said the third generation Chevrolet Utility evolved from the Corsa Utility, which had laid the foundations for what has become an icon in the sub-one ton pick-up market.
“This exciting new small pick-up captured the attention of the media as well, very quickly racking up awards from this critical audience. Leading media in Brazil: Top Car TV; Car Magazine; and Abiauto all declared the new small Chevrolet pick-up the best vehicle in its segment,” she said.
Kavashe said a key factor in the success of the Chevrolet Utility was the fact that it set new benchmarks for the class in terms of interior space and comfort, style, features, and load carrying ability.
“The choice of fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines is a further plus for a package that has a high level of appeal for the serious business user, while providing a comfortable second car option for the private buyer where it fills both utility and leisure vehicle roles,” she said.
Kavashe said while the Chevrolet Utility might not seem that different from its predecessor, it was a fundamentally different vehicle, built on an all-new platform and with up-to-date styling in keeping with the proud 100-year heritage of the Chevrolet brand.
“As is the case with the two earlier generations, this latest small pick-up from Chevrolet will raise the bar in its segment by adding a number of features unique in the class,” said Kavashe.
Kavashe said Chevrolet was positive that the two new products would definitely be a valuable addition to Autoworld’s product line-up.
“Chevrolet, specifically the Cruze and Aveo, are seen as being competitively priced and have been exceptionally well received by the market, and we’re hoping that these new vehicles will be just as well received,” she said.
