Jon QuirkTrader Media Group announces today that Jon Quirk has been appointed editor-in-chief of AutoTrader, the UK’s biggest automotive title.

Quirk, 29, has been in the acting editor position since December, and becomes the company’s youngest ever editor-in-chief. He will be responsible for realising the company’s ambitious and ascending editorial plans in the digital sphere, both cross platform and cross folio.

The appointment completes a number of changes throughout the content team, including the promotion of Bikes Editor Dan Tye to Deputy and Non Car Editor, as well as Andy Goodwin rising to Senior Road Tester.

Daniel Mintz, Web Services and Content Director, said “Jon Quirk brings a fresh approach to AutoTrader. His tenacity and unrelenting enthusiasm will drive a new creative tone of voice that will transcend new media and platforms whilst bringing together the consumer and expert content to evolve AutoTrader into becoming a number one authority on helping people buy a new car.

He will lead the new content team with his Deputy Dan Tye who has wider non car motoring experience that, combined with his great organisational skills and commercial acumen, will deliver with Jon a formidable and contemporary digital content team.

Andy is probably our most talented writer known for his conversational and engaging style whilst being able to appeal to both a broad selection of segments as well as the enthusiast. His relationship with key manufacturers, alongside his objective writing prowess sets Andy up to lead our road testing department from strength to strength.”

“It’s an incredible honour to be asked to edit the UK’s biggest automotive title,” said Quirk. “I’m very proud of the impact the team is already making in supporting our dealers and consumers in finding the vehicle that’s right for them, but I’m really excited about stepping up this year and making AutoTrader a more cohesive and compelling editorial destination.”

Quirk has a strong automotive background that has included senior roles on Autocar, Pistonheads, Sky Motoring and Which? Car. He joined AutoTrader as New Car Editor in 2011, and maintains responsibility for leading the company’s video strategy.
