The new Audi A6 Saloon and Avant e-hybrid quattro models blend high-performance luxury with intelligent electrification, offering up to 64 miles of electric range, standard all-wheel drive, and state-of-the-art hybrid management.
Ingolstadt/Neckarsulm, 6 May 2025 – Audi is charging forward in its electrification strategy with the reintroduction of the plug-in hybrid variants of its acclaimed A6 range. The new A6 Saloon and Avant e-hybrid quattro models combine a compelling electric-only range with increased efficiency, comfort and dynamic performance – all without compromising on luxury or practicality.
With UK sales commencing in early June and first deliveries due in late summer, these sophisticated executive vehicles arrive with a robust system output of 299PS (220kW), promising brisk performance and best-in-class electrified usability. Prices start from £60,980 (OTR), with a choice of Sport, S line, and Edition 1 trims.
Powertrain Evolution: More Power, Less Compromise
At the core of the new A6 e-hybrid quattro is a revised powertrain pairing a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine producing 252PS with a 105kW electric motor. The result is a seamless, confident driving experience bolstered by a total system torque of 450Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 62mph takes just 6.0 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 155mph – figures that place this hybrid squarely in performance territory.
Yet where this new generation truly excels is in electric range. Thanks to a significantly upgraded 25.9kWh high-voltage battery (net 20.7kWh), the A6 Saloon can now travel up to 64 miles purely on electric power, while the Avant achieves up to 63 miles – a substantial leap forward for zero-emission urban commutes.
Intelligent Hybrid Management and Recuperation
The A6 e-hybrid quattro models leverage Audi’s latest generation of hybrid management systems to make electrified driving not only seamless, but smarter. Two operating modes – “EV” and “Hybrid” – cater to different driving scenarios, while an intelligent recuperation strategy actively recovers energy based on route data and traffic conditions.
In EV mode, the car prioritises electric propulsion for as long as possible, ideal for city driving. Hybrid mode balances both power sources while conserving electric range for later use. A digital slider also allows the driver to manually select their preferred charge level.
Using steering-wheel paddles, drivers can fine-tune regenerative braking in three levels, enabling one-pedal-style driving when desired. Predictive Efficiency Assist (PEA) works alongside the navigation system to optimise energy use on the fly, even without active route guidance. And when braking, the system can recover up to 88kW of energy, with over 90% of deceleration handled electrically in most cases.
All-Wheel Steering and quattro ultra for Everyday Dynamism
Every A6 e-hybrid quattro model comes equipped with Audi’s dynamic quattro ultra all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering as standard – features that enhance stability at speed and agility in tight urban environments.
At speeds up to 37mph, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, aiding manoeuvrability. Above that, they pivot in unison for improved high-speed stability. Combined with the responsive dual-clutch S tronic transmission, the result is an executive saloon or estate that handles with surprising verve.
Quiet Sophistication Meets Premium Comfort
Audi has also refined the in-cabin experience, with enhanced sound insulation reducing interior noise by up to 30% over the outgoing model. Tighter window and door seals, reengineered transmission mounts, and noise-optimised tyres all contribute to a more serene ride.
Charging performance has also seen a major improvement: the new 11kW AC charging system slashes recharge times to just 2.5 hours. A standard Mode 3 cable ensures compatibility with a wide range of home and public charging points, while Audi Charging provides access to thousands of European stations.
A Leap Forward in Battery Technology
The newly developed high-voltage battery is a technological showpiece in itself. With energy density boosted by 46% over previous iterations, the A6’s battery features a cell-to-pack architecture for higher capacity in a compact footprint. Clever packaging places the cells in a single-layer design embedded within the rear crash structure, delivering safety and efficiency in equal measure.
Additionally, the lightweight, compact pulse inverter helps reduce electrical consumption, while optimised battery chemistry ensures performance even at low charge levels or in cold conditions.
Trim Levels and Pricing
In the UK, the A6 e-hybrid quattro range will be available in three trims:
- Sport – From £60,980 OTR
- S line – Offering sportier styling cues
- Edition 1 – The most luxurious and fully equipped variant
Each offers a compelling blend of technology, comfort, and dynamic appeal, further reinforcing Audi’s reputation in the executive car segment.
The Electrified Executive Choice
Audi’s reimagined A6 e-hybrid quattro range is more than a plug-in hybrid – it’s a blueprint for future-ready executive mobility. With its sophisticated electric range, intelligent energy recovery systems, and refined driving dynamics, it delivers the best of both combustion and electric worlds.
The new Audi A6 e-hybrid quattro is available to order from early June, with first UK customer deliveries expected by late summer 2025.
